The figure actually represents a decline over the previous year. So, nothing to celebrate here as it's evident that we regressed instead of improving.

Both 2013 and 2014 the same person was in change and if there was a decline there must be a reason for that. Don't be sarcastic. Give us figures before his tenure and let analysis if any progress was made at all. You can't take two year and conclude no progress was made.

This is a quote from the punch newspaper "The NEPC said there was a steady growth in the non-oil exports, with a value of $2.97bn in 2013, accounting for 15.9 per cent increase over 2012, with a value of $2.56bn"

My take

This figures if true are piffling

Compare this to other emerging nations and start weeping

Turkey $164,400,000,000

Bangladesh $31,200,000,000

Bulgaria $29,250,000,000

Estonia $15,820,000,000 (It's population is barely 1.5million)

Croatia $14,080,000,000

Poland $218,900,000,000

all the above countries are not oil exporters and are also not known for exporting commodities such as gold

Malaysia has barely 20m, it exports oil but a fraction of Nigeria's yet look at its export figures $231,300,000,000

Men, see figures. Na thunder go fire any past administration both federal and state that says they invested in non oil sector. Infact, na Ogun go crush them. Because I no understand, is it money to invest that we don't have? Or workforce or land? Even the oil, we no dey buy am at cheaper rate. Thunder fire them once again.

Stop viewing everything with your biased lens! I just extracted a portion of the report which clearly stated there was a decline over last year's figure, to make a point.

A clear mind will agree that the news is not worth celebrating if we actually performed not as good as the previous years.

You can call on any of the professional wailers to extract figures for the past ten years for your analysis. I have better things to do with my time.

See ehn, it is a shame. Did you read the post that shows the amount at which some countries generated from non oil export? One would want to cry. Lack of structural maintenance must have added to that decline. I just hope for better days ahead. And for that mofo, don't mind. And it waz around $600m or so in 2010 when GEJ entered, so there was a significant net improvement over the period.

But then again @$2bn for non-oil exports for a whole country like Nigeria is a joke. Shows we are not yet even close to be there. Although the improvement is a positive if we consider it movement and if we continued to move in that direction, only faster hopefully.

Agricultural sector needs policy incentives to attract the well needed investments. Farmers at all levels of farming need to encouraged on the profits(dividend) of their crop yield.
There are many locations of well-nourished land for cash and food crop plantations in the country.

Is my post controvertible?

Btw, I have not said GEJ performed worse or better than previous administrations. I only brought out a fact as stated in the OP.

Why are you guys always defensive? The report clearly stated that 2014 figure represents a decline of about 20% of 2013's. Given that fact, is it worth celebrating?

This type of accepting mediocrity is what brought us here.
