Best answer to oafs like that. I just don't respond to them. Everyday they spam my mentions with those idiotic rants of theirs so much that I feel it is useless checking it when I get a notification.

To them, if you aren't a foolish bigot, them you aren't a brother.

And I still don't know what gives these kids the impression I'm Igbo. Is Omenka an Igbo namehuh
Yes, it is an Igbo name, two people I know well, from my place answer the name.

We call one "Dee Omenka"

The other one "Dee Ome".

What does Omenka mean in your native language, I have always meant to ask you.

Well I don't know if Omenka is native to igbos. 99% of the people I've seen bearing the name aren't Igbos.

The name reflects a valiant, a King, a very strong man.

What does it mean in igbo??

Means the same thing, someone who does something extra ordinary, someone known for doing what is no mean feat.
Like who pulls off some unbelievable deed.

Igala or Idoma? huh wink

This man, what are u afraid of?

I said earlier that I have always meant to ask you what your name means.

So in essence, Omenka means the same thing in ur native language and Igbo.

That's all.

Since you don't have convo unless na political arguments, it is well, me I don't like politics.

You obviously didn't read that stuff.

Why would one be hurriedly retired simply because he has a disagreement with his orders.
Read it upside down and get the message.
I doube she read the article.

@Topic: I felt pity for him after reading the piece. It must have been a traumatic experience.

He had had encounter with a particular Northern Army General at the Supreme Military Council and because of his comment while he was asked to terminate all Igbo at the then Biafra war. He challenged the General on this and the insult the particular General rained on Chief Obafemi Awolowo, that he can not be rude to a Yoruba elder and that as far as Igbo is concerned, they are his people because his first wife was the ADC to Akanu Ibiam and what happened next, he was retired.
I came across this information years ago, (can't really recollect where now)but can confirm that the Northern Army General was none other than Lt. Col Hassan Usman Kastina who at the time was at the vanguard of those disgruntled and impatient "Northern Army Officers" with Gowon's inability/reluctance to deal decisively with the rebels. At one of their Supreme Military Council meetings, Katsina proffered his own quick end solution to the civil war which was that Nigeria should purchase two atomic bombs from any western country and drop it on the newly formed republic of Biafra. He promised that should end the war within a fortnight! Awolowo rebuked him for his infantile and ridiculous propositions upon which, Katsina, a proud fulani prince, flew into a furious rage, jumped up and slapped Awo. At the time, awo must have been old enough to be Katsina's father so without much Ado, Adekunle too, jumped into the fray and dealt Katsina (they were both Lt. Cols) a massive blow on the cheek.Subsequently, katsina and Adekunle squared up to each other and had to be separated by the ilk of Shuwa, Murtala ati bebelo. The kadunna Mafia and the Northern oligarchy never forgot nor forgave Adekunle for this and were soon able to extract their pound of flesh, many years after the war.

I often wonder what will have been the fate of a large proportion of those now clamouring for war, had Gowon taken up Lt. Col. Katsina's solution to dealing decisively with the rebels?

@ Op, why do you guys persist with this your asinine line of reasoning that yoruba soldiers who were and fought in the Nigerian army were used nd dumped by their Northern counterparts? What other choice was available to them? Ojukwu's Army was already in Ore, a yoruba town enroute to Lagos. His fighter pilots called the "biafran babes" have already dropped bombs unto the streets of Lagos calling innocent yorubas. We 've also heard what ojukwu's BLF did in the Mid-west region and how they foist their own man on the people. The "Northern" Nigeria army stationed in yorubaland certainly wouldn't risk their precious lives protecting the south west. So what exactly do you guys expect yoruba soldiers in the Nigerian Army, to do? Lay down their guns and allow ojukwu's soldiers to occupy our land after killing our people all in the guise that, he ojukwu wants to take his people out of Nigeria?

It is true that there was regular forced conscriptions of young yorubas into the army at the time. One of my uncles was so recruited on his way back from getting his A-level result. His promising young life was cut short two years into the civil war, aged 20. They were many others though who voluntarily joined the army then, to protect our homeland from the rampaging biafrans.
