Officers of the Director of State Security (DSS), in Owerri, Imo State, on Tuesday, paraded suspected kidnapper, Henry Chibueze, popularly known as ‘Vampire,’ 28.
‘Vampire,’ who had reportedly terrorized the nation’s South East and South-South geo-political zones, kidnapping over 300 individuals at various times, most of who he killed, was arrested in Ohafia, Abia State.
Imo State Director of the DSS, Mr. Ejiofor, told newsmen that ‘Vampire’ attempted to kidnap tribunal judges handling Election Petition in Imo State, but escaped with bullet wounds. He was was however trailed to Ohahia, where men of the secret Police apprehended him.
He was paraded along with two women and a native doctor named Dan Elengi, said to be the proprietor of a popular hotel at Ohii in Owerri Local Government Area, as well as Akeem Bello from Kwara State.
Also arrested and paraded with Chibueze, was a serial rapist and cultist from AIbom Abom State Polytechnic, from who a locally made gun was recovered.
Vampire, who said he has been involved in several kidnappings in various parts of the country, confessed that he operated from Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire.
Fielding questions from Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, who personally subjected them to interrogation, ‘Vampire’ also confessed that he collected the sum of N110 million from one of his victims in Rivers State, before killing him.
Shedding more light on his nefarious activities, Vampire who looked unruffled during the period, also admitted to abducting an official of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (name withheld), equally collected sum of N50 million, who was also murdered thereafter.
Furthermore, Vampire said he murdered his girl friend for allegedly stealing the sum of N45 million from him.
Ejiofor said that the feat was accomplished, following useful information and a renewed vigour by security agencies to rid  the state of kidnappers before year end.
