I asked if you used your dipstick to double check on oil level but you never responded.

Like I said earlier a gallon is 3.785l now they can sell you a 5 litre keg but a gallon is still 3.785 so if your mechanic emptied a 5l keg into the car and said he added a gallon he's wrong.

Look at the chart attached your car needs 4l not 5 so it could be too much oil

I really don't know where u are going with this. I am a DIY guy. I told u earlier there was no mistake in my oil change as per quantity needed. I have factory service manual for all my cars. I do oil change myself. Do u also want to lecture me on gauging engine oil? Milemaster comes in 5quarts and I kn my engine needs 4.3liters when draining and refilling oil with filter change. So, bro I know what I did and I kn what I'm talking about. I don't mean to discredit any brand. But this is just my experience. Vehicle has not had any form of engine work done on it. It's sound.

I also use Hardex 5w30 and it is emitting smoke in the morning hours? Have your own stopped emitting smokes?
Delafruita:
hi to all the gurus.I use a ford escape 2001 and the recommended oil grade is 5w 20 which I have dilligently adhered to but then I noticed the engine oil gradually reduces.I had my mechanic check for leakages but there was none.after several inquiries,I was advised to go with a fully synthetic blend and that since the tribute of same year came out of same assembly plant with same engine and makes use of 5w 30,I could go with a fully synthetic 5w 30 which I did.when changing the oil,I noticed the previous 5w 20 was extremely light.no thickness at all.

immediately after putting in the hardex 5w30 fully synthetic blend,my car started to emit blue smoke.I gave it a few days to see if it will clear but it didnt.my mechanic thinks the oil isn't good for the car but I want to be sure it isn't something else.

I didn't do an engine flush before using the synthetic because I didn't want to run the risk of tampering with whatever sludge might have accumulated.

please advise as appropiate

thanks

i hope what you are calling smoke is not the normal steam that comes out of the exhaust in the morning. please, place ur hand or a metal sheet against the "smoke", if it condenses to water, then its normal.

@ chukel

my response was for OP if the oil was changed and now smokes just to make sure they know what is going on but you were the first to state a 5L gallon which is why I used 5L keg because using the word "gallon" for 5L is confusing. So if the OP's mechanic emptied a 5L keg into the engine it is too much.

@Experience4u

like chukel said it might be steam because it colder is the mornings you might see droplets of water too.

the smoke emission has drastically reduced.intact it doesn't emit smoke till I throttle it while its idling and even then the smoke is little and it clears off almost immediately

then again,my car idles much better than it used to.so is this supposed to be an improvement?

blue smoke.not steam.I used to get the steam constantly every morning with this car,my previous 4runner and Babyboy so I don't bother about it.there is steam as well which makes water drip from the exhaust.but there is still that little blue smoke.it used to be massive immediately after the switch to the synthetic, but now its almost infinitesimal

blue smoke is not a good omen. but u say it has almost disappeared. that's a good testimony. sounds good. gazzuz, sultaan, what do u think?
