Once you're above 24, you really can't have a flying career in the Military. If not ill be first in line to enlist...but there's no problem, I always leave my options open!

Most pilots don't even start their careers until after 24... Two years of flight school on top of their bachelors. They are all commissioned, not enlisted. It's a different process.

Well a recruiter once told me that to indicate interest to have a pilot career in the army I have to be 24 or younger...

Please note that I said "indicate". I was made to understand that as with most other major careers in the military, it is by "availability" of slots. Once you're over 24, you really don't have a shot at having a pilot career in the military.

At least that's the understanding I have.

I wouldn't give too much credence to that. There is a pretty hard cieling at about 28 (to be starting training) which would make you a pilot by 30. Mind you, this means you have your bachelors completed and have commissioned in your branch by 28. It might be closer to 26 for helicopter pilots because their training is longer.

You fly for the first 8 years or so, but as you are moving up the ranks you are becomming more of a planner or a staff officer. You still fly after that - and they always consider themselves pilots - but it's just to maintain the minimum number of hours really.

I don't know as much about warrant officer flight programs (they are similar, but different), but warrant officers fly for their entire careers and are considered more of technical specialists in flight operations. If it is something you are really interested, talk to the different branches. Marines, Navy and Air Force all have fixed wing (jets and propeller airplanes), and all branches, including Army, have options for helicopters.

this is it,jettison the idea of seeing a friend in NY except its most pressing and u ve the funds to fly from NY to TN,coz using greyhound should be more than 18hrsbon the road,coz greyhound from MD to NC is about 15hrs and TN is still after NC..so the choice is urs to make..also know that the only way u can make ticket reservation is to call the cc of the airline to make reservation for u which might not really be for the particular price of ticket u saw while surfing..so if u have ur card ready and the funds jst go ahead and pay online..peace.
Thanks, big boss. The reason I want to put up with a friend for a day is still to save cost. The cheapest connecting flight from New York to Tennessee would be a day after I land in JFK; I wouldn't want to spend that in an airport, when I have a place to go.
Thanks for the insight on ticket reservation. I will do just that. Will it be it issue at the POE in JFK that I wouldn't be leaving the same day for Tennessee. I appreciate you response, man!

I agree with you that making travel plans can be really stressful. Getting a visa is surely not the end of life's troubles.
But don't get worked up...
About your booking, I think you should start your reservation all over. I took the liberty of going through their site and its almost the same with Qatar. You should be able to make a reservation and pay in 72hours. If you still have any issues your should call their helpline. Just relax and pay attention.
17hours is not so bad compared to what people on here have had to endure. The downside of getting a cheap ticket is a long ass layover. Prepare yourself for the layover and you just never know(i had a 20hrs layover in London and I was allowed entry without a transit visa).
JFK shouldn't give you any trouble. Just have all your document carry on luggage.

There is no probs of any sort at the POE jst know what's on ur I-20 and what ur here for,coz u will have a brief interview once again except something changes..the only tin I see that might play to ur advantage while transiting at ur friend's place in NY is if he can come and pick u at the airport,or else,those Pakistani taxi drivers will bill u as a first timer which will be evident the way u move around..in all jst be careful..No be only naija wise..lol

1. Do I need to show any medical report for my F1 visa interview.

2. My uni(USF) needed me to provide my immunisation records; tb, meningitis, measles, hepatitis. Can I do that here in naija and present over there during my registration?

Hello guys, for PTA can't i send money to a family member in the US at bank rate and then when i get there i collect it from the person. Black market is 242 to a dollar :-(. I'll just have a small amount of dollars like 800$ with me for the flight.

Yes, you can do the immunizations here, clarify from your school tho. And no medical report is needed for visa.

Loool....a lot of wrong information about the MAVNI program. Thanks for trying to help LUCAS99 peeps. @LUCAS99, u just received 95% wrong info. I know they mean well, but if u have been in the US for 2years with no single absence > 90days, u need to contact a recruiter smiley. Reserve and active duty slots are available.

I have 2 questions

1. TOEFL VS IELTS, which is easier to pass and make high scores?
2. Having an B.SC + M.SC from Nigeria, how possible is it obtaining admission straight into a P.hd programme with GRE alone(without toefl or ielts)?

I no get money, so i wan write only GRE, na wetin make i dey ask o?

You can, but if you don't live or study in that country the VOs will probably wonder why you are applying there. VOs in Nigeria are also more familiar with circumstances that Nigerian applicants may be facing - VOs in another country might not understand which can sometimes lead to refusal. When possible, we recommend that you apply in the country where you are spending the most time.

So a VO can deny someone a visa if he or she does not understand the applicant's circumstance with regard to studies or work in a foreign land?
