The OP is wrong in the first 2 points. Nigerians are everything but not racist, those comments are not racism, it's like when children seens a white man, they will start shouting onye ocha, ibiara nigeria. Ain't racism, they are just excited. 2nd point on electricity, buhari is just 2 months in power, he doesn't have any policy or direction of government yet neither did he add any extra megawatts to what GEJ left and you guys are attributing steady power during rainy season to him. Well dry season is coming, we shall see. |

I think you left out one point even though I do not agree with all your points. Nigerians are TRIBALISTS. An average Nigerian believes in his tribe first before his Nigerian Citizenship |

OtunbaJega:She's right. We're racist but not in the negative way. Nine out ten Nigerians would fix their eyes on an American, Asian or Briton who happen to walk past them. We're fascinated by their composition that it makes us wonder if they're dolls or humans like us .Racism is not only in abuse or hate. I think the proper perception of racism would be "pointing out that a fellow is not one of you" either in the positive or negative. |

gboss4sure:UrennaNkoli is right. rac·ism - /ˈrāˌsizəm/ noun 1. the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. There's a unconscious belief that whites are superior to us Nigerians (note: I did not say blacks). This is why Nigerians are good at staring at white folks in awe. It's not just a feeling of excitement, but that of awe, fascination and admiration. |

I disagree on Racism, we are not racist in Nigeria, calling a chinese chinko isnt racist and from the other examply you gave, clearly the Nigerian speaking to the Asian was merely being humorous. My opinions though |

OP, I don't think you understand Nigerians. Being hospitable is not inferiority complex. You don't have to change the complexion of your skin for an average Nigerian to be nice to you, just tell them you are from Cotonu or Togo and you are treated well. We make foreigners feel welcome, we don't have inferiority complex. If there was a robbery or kidnapping going on, believe me you will be the first to be attacked because they know you are a foreigner, is that inferior? |

@ the Op, I disagree to what you term racism in Nigeria,do you know what racism really mean? Imagine you are in the bus and the rest of the passengers come down and decide to wait for another bus because of a black man that is with them in the bus.Imagine an arab sees you and shout allahu akabar because you are black and consequently thank God for not creating him black as you.Imagine you are inside a taxi and someone put his legs on your shoulder or head and you can't say nothing for fear of your life!!! I once paid for shopping in Spain and the cashier was skeptical about the money i paid, turning it down and front after checking it with mercury light, good, she inturn gives me change as we call it in Nigeria, myself took it and did as she has done with the note i gave her,you know what she says next?i will call the police because i mimic her gesture to repay her unbelief in a black man. What Nigeria shows is excess sense of humour, they call their president Baba go slow, baba one chance and all sort of other names,i think you can see how mature the president took it.Nigerians are not racist, the most moderate people on earth,Nigerians are just of hyper humour. |
