*Staff lay siege to, SSS storm secretariat.
The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new dimension as members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) members of the party, appeared to have thrown their weight behind the aggrieved members of staff of the party.
The PDP staffers had last Friday demanded for the sack of members of the National Working Committee (NWC) headed by its acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, following the party directive to cut staff and salary by 50 percent.
THISDAY gathered that former national chairmen of the party and BoT members held a meeting with some of the workers at which they expressed support for the workers.
It was learnt that the BoT will likely recommend for the sacked staffers to undergo fresh screening in order to weed out those that are suspected to be moles in the party.
A source at the party secretariat, who spoke to THISDAY said, “The feeling among BoT and NEC members is that since members of the NWC led the party to such an unprecedented defeat in 16 years they should have done the honourable thing and resigned to allow others to come in and rebuild the party from the ruins of the last elections."
