Please, I want economics technocrats to enlighten me on this new policy by the CBN governor. From what I understand on this new wave or trend of the Naira against Dollar, the dollar is being FORCED under intense pressure to fall against the naira.

To the best of my knowledge, this is an artificial surgery to a natural problem, I can't see how this is sustainable in the long run.

To be clear, I like the new trend and I a PRO Buhari, so please do not call me a wailler grin. I am just trying to be more pragmatic with an open mind.

This bring me to the main question that is bothering my mind: What are the economic measures in place to ensure that the naira doesn't fall against the dollar in weeks ahead and is it ensured that the naira becomes stable or rise further against the dollar? I need to know please

well said, every constructive decision taking by PMB is on the black book of the wailing wailers.

..and this is exactly the reason why I voted the 'dullard'. Because all I wanted was a no-nonsense leader who could appoint smart people and ALLOW them do their jobs without corruptly or cluelessly medling.

The same Emefiele worked under GEJ and he was the one who had to officially devalue the naira from 150 to 200. But the same Emefiele (because he now has a better boss) is the one supervising the rise of the naira and the speedy fixing of the problem.

Just the same way the same NOI worked under OBJ and grew Nigeria's economy from zero to greatness, that same NOI worked under GEJ and all she could achieve was a plundering of the entire financial resources of Nigeria and leaving us in massive debts even though the country enjoyed massive oil income boom under GEJ's 5 years.

More than ever before, I now understand the importance of having a good oga at the top. I can bet my life that even if PMB retains all Jonathan's ministers, those non-performers would suddenly become shining stars.

I still cannot understand however, why any sane person cannot see how GEJ's lack of leadership grip and authority was ruining this country. As a matter of fact, GEJ supporters still flaunt this his meekness as a good quality, meanwhile it is the worst quality required of a 'Nigerian' leader.
gbam!!! so on point!!! i think pmb should bring in NOI, since she performs well under good supervision!

It seems the new CBN policy is achieving the intended result despite the criticism by the PDP.
I laugh at we Nigerians when we were criticising the CBN Governor. Don't you know that those policy introduce by the CBN is to counter Naira exchange Depreciation. But you know we Nigerians don't know the beauty of long term plan plus sacrifice.

But my problem is that CBN should not alone the Naira to depreciate faster than what it intended to take care of.

CBN should remember that Banks And BDC operators plus Parallel operator are waiting for the scarcity of the Dollar . For them to recover their money back.

Remember this is business.

Nigerians don't jubilate yet. Remember the price of oil has not yet recover.

We should understand one thing- PDP doesn't want Buhari to succeed, it is their only hope of getting back to the dinner table. They fervently pray and wish, just like their NL supporters, to see Baba fail woefully and have all nigerians groaning under immense hardship.

Against all odds, this policy appears to be working, but the government should be wary of these nay sayers- they would do anything to sabotage the system and have us stumbling into the abyss.

Just as they criticise this, watch it, when the time comes and the arms embargo by the US is finally lifted and significant upgrade of our military complex is being made, this same PDP and her minions that have been throwing tantrums over Baba's "failed mission" to the US would be the same people to accuse him of "militarising the country and plunging us back to the 80's"!!

I believe very strongly this man will succeed in his mission to dig Nigeria out the ashes and give her a good dress up to the admiration of her neighbours and the international community.

May God bless and renew his strength everyday for our sake.
Amen brother. Under 2 months the wailing wailers are criticising PMB for non performance meanwhile appreciating the clueless one who has not sense of purpose in Power for 8years.

I totally disagree with you on this one. I have had several discus with PDP members and some of my brothers in the EAST & SS they all want the government to succeed, but when I ask them why all the abuse on the president, most of them say they just want to give them what they gave to Jonathan. so it is not really abt PMB failing is abt the way they feel the former was been abused in every day discuss even by those who are well place and educated. the worst is that this trend will continue even to another president who will emerge some day. unless a government will ,some day humble itself and apologize for the errors. Apologizing doesn't mean you are wrong, it only shows you are matured enough to know the value of peace. All this Social media stuff that is now affecting our day to day life might one day hunt us. it is better to put off the'smoke than allowing it to develop to a full blown fire, then u start calling fire service. Like a niralander would say 'the problem of this generation is that so many idiots has access to the internet'

You write like a baby is Buhari an economist? Buhari have never claim to be a genius why are we still paying CBN Governor if he can't do is job by protecting the oue currency. I think people should be made to do IQ test before they join this Nairaland. Why didn't Jonathan come up with this idea during his time. Jonathan made naira look like tissue paper. Please use your senses before you type next don't make it easy for me to insult you please.

Really? Then how come the idea just came to him?.The fact that he is the governor doesnt mean He makes decision alone.
He has over capable people doing the thinking Theres a department for that.

That been said, Be advised that cbn didnt take that decision, banks did due to the conditions cbn gave which they could not meet or felt were too stringent (GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND).Do you think banks are just there to sit? They are the ones holding your economy as well as having the best economists.

Whether you accept or not,Value of naira is rising against dollar and it happened during the REARER OF DAURA'S TENURE so it counts for him.
