So you would rather we abandon our traditions because according to you, they don't mean shit? How in God's name don't they mean shit? Do you know the influence he wields within his domain? Once again, does SLS wearing the paraphernalia of his office make him less educated? Or he is supposed to dispose of the traditional wear because he is educated? Have you imagined if he feels at home with these wears? Or you just want him to wear what YOU are comfortable with? Your analogy to Native America doesn't cut it. SLS wore suits and tie when he was in the formal sector. I believe if an educated Native American becomes a king in his community, he'll wear what he is supposed to wear. Does education require one to discard all his culture? Education should make you seeDoes education require one to discard all his culture? Education should make you see things from a superior perspective and change the evil ones. I don't think wearing what is associated with his office is an evil aspect of his culture. Or is it?
Whatever is not useful, no more in vogue, no more influencing in capability should be thrown away. Sanusi comes from a Nomadic pedigree. A people who live on the desert and on camel backs. They needed the turbans to protect them against the sun and sand especially when riding on horse back over the windy desert. Today's nomads are now living in houses, no more on desert, no more on horseback, yet they retain the turban as tradition ? What a daft reasoning. I know it is hard to throw away tradition, but believe me, these our traditions are absolute waste. Imagine where I come from, we have the masquerades. The masquerades represent spirits of our ancestors and were used to judge disputes in the early days cos they represent deities. But of what use is a masquerade today other than a remnant of a history. It is no more useful, but will my village rather maintain masquerades, Yes, as a remnant and reminder of our warped and daft history. This is what it is. So Sanusi covers himself with 15 yards of bedsheets and moves around like a compound idiot just to prove he is a custodian of a useless tradition that can not save the almajiri from hunger and suicidal tendencies. Shame to education then!

What useless position ? Let's be frank, this position is not worth shit in today's Earth. These traditions are the remnant of the master-slave relationship/history that still churns out almajiri everyday. Of what use are these silly tradtion when Africans are still very timid if not for western education ? When a man abandons progressive education just to wear bedsheets and move around like an idiot then its the dead of education. Education is supposed to replace ignorant paraphenalia. When was the last time you see a thoroughly educated native America wearing those ancient horns their forefathers used to wear. There is time for every form of dressing. Does it mean if Sanusi wears suit and tie, he will not be able to lord over almajiri anymore. Ponder!
If u didn't have culture or against culture from where u come from, doesn't mean you should start criticising others.... You there talking of education replacing ignorant, calling som1 idiot. All ur allegations and abuse really suit u

Senate President issue was the top on the list of discussions :"Aware of the fresh plot, Saraki has resorted to seeking the assistance of Emirs and traditional rulers to help pacify President Buhari and Tinubu to drop the idea of plotting to ease him out of office.

Already, Saraki has reached out to the emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi I and the emir of his home town, ilorin, Kwara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari to intercede on his behalf with Buhari.

Both Emirs have already established communication with Buhari."

Our traditions in Africa are worthless. You and I know it. Any tradition that does not further the course of human civilization is timid. Any intelligent race does away with traditions that keeps her people in the yesterdays. The chinese banned the bow and arrows in the 50s, and even jailed and killed all the traditional smiths that had knowledge of its construction. Today, China is liberated. It is not just tradition, but on a personal level, we all must make sure we do away with any habit and lifestyle that is useless, counter-productive and against the essence of human civilization as an organism. That, my friend, is the essence of Education. Education is not separate from tradition, it seeks to improve tradition of humans in civilization. I stand my ground that wearing 15 yards of bedsheet is absolute rubbish that was supposed to be done away with before I was even born.

Ohhhhhh, I forgot they are both Islamic Scholars, BokoHaram Sympathizers, have a common enemy in GEJ and both have a penchant for making spurious allegations and looking for ''missing dollars''.

Do you understand the traditions, the Japanese government did not ban bow and arrows , the American occupying government forces theme to do these things.

If you've even been to Japan you would understand how much they try to celebrate their now lost traditions

But it's not just timid but useless, unnecessary, primitive and SHOULD BE DONE A WAY WITH!

The problem we have, and why we remain backwards in Africa is that we believe that Education, Tradition and Culture are different. It is not. Culture stays in the museum of traditional history for people to go and watch and remember the history of the people. You do not take your history and put on your body to remind yourself, this is because Education seeks to improve man, not tardy man. As far as we allow culture to tide us but not guide us, then we are doomed as a race. We are supposed to be looking at Sanusi's dressing in a museum to remind us of how the nomads fathers used to dress. As Emir, we are supposed to feel his pulse in governing of a people, not be intimated by silly dressing of yesterdays. The only time we hear of Emir is when he is being visited by a politician or when he is visiting a politician and the 3rd instance is when he is in a mosque. Is that useful ? Why are we confused ? We want democracy then we also want to keep our useless traditional rulers. We are confused. We are not a monarchy, lets push these jokers into the museum and watch them behind a glass wall. That is where they belong. We need to move forward and use our computers and what today presents.

You see my point bro. We hold too dear to things that are useless, and that is the bane of our civilization. Tradition and culture are very vibrant instruments of intimidation amongst the illiterates. Thorough education, humbles and simplifies a man.

Two folks who have at one time found themselves in unmerited positions.

Islamic scholar as CBN boss and certificateless president.

ElRufai is much better of as an Emir though.
That seems to be his calling.
You forget the same Islamic Scholar is a chartered banker with over 20years banking experience. The last 2 years of which was spent as MD/CEO of First Bank, the foremost and biggest bank in the country.

So how could Sanusi's elevation to CBN governor be unmerited, especially when he took over from a career economist with no banking experience - the result of which was a lack of regulation that allowed many bank executives to perpetrate all manner of financial crimes?

Their people and Emir himself didn't complain, so we have to respect that. Its their tradition and doesn't change d fact that he is a well educated man. During is tenure as d CBN governor we all see his dressing den, its not like I love what he is wearing now but we have to respect it.

I am not biased. I reference every backward tradition, and Nomadic tradition as a case in the point of this thread. Any tradition that is totally useless should be done away with. There is nothing wrong with Emir improving his wardrobe. History and culture has always been dogmatic, and static. But then we say change is the only constant thing. Are we not silly to always say one thing but do another ?

We need, as a matter of survival of race, structural mental re-adjustment. Left for us Africans alone, we would not be using computers and smartphones today. We would have been using talking drums to communicate. Because we worship so called tradition and dogma. Even though we know they are useless to us.

Bro, with all due respect, I have but very respect for the vast majority of Africans. I just don't seem to understand why we've consciously refused to let go off traditions and values that have only succeeded in keeping us backward. The more you understand the mindset of most Africans they more depressed you become.

Ever made the mistake of calling a Chinese person Japanese, you might receive an insult that day !

That is the thinking module that keeps us where we are. History is a course in Education. Tradition is culture of our people. We do not live tradition, we live in culture and culture is improved upon as a way of life as we progress with education. So culture changes as we get more education. But what we see here is the lunacy of a people who prefer to wear 15yards of bedsheet and use iphone6. Does it occur to us that some civilization had to drop the trumpet, whistle, bow and arrow and develop iphone and apps ? Does it occur to use that someone had to drop the donkey and the horse and develop the motor cars and aeroplanes? Does it occur to us that someone had to drop the goatskin and furs and develop the jeans ?

My people perish because of the lack of knowledge. Human beings need structure mental re-adjustment. Dogma is anti-change, but change is constant.

Did you say dynamic history of human race ? If you really think you know the meaning, then you are actually writing the right thing but thinking wrongly. The only thing, I repeat, the only thing that promotes dynamism of human race is education, and education seeks to improve the present, improve the yesterday, and it means improving history and tradition. So, in essence, dynamism means we must change. Even dressing with 15yards of bedsheets should be changed and the cloths kept in Natural History Museum for us to watch from a glass wall.
