ABUJA—FOLLOWING complaints of undue interference by the Department of State Services (DSS) in the Rivers State Election Petition pending before the Election petition Tribunal, the Senate has summoned the Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura to appear before it.

The upper chambers said that it would want prompt response to invitations and questions raised during the investigation.

The Senate had received a petition by the Rivers State House of Assembly and it was last week referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public petitions. The Committee is chaired by Senator Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East Senatorial District.

Lawal Daura The Senate, which has commenced investigation into the allegations, asked the DSS Director- General to appear before the Senate Ethics, Privileges and Public petitions that would be conducting the investigation today (Thursday)

The Senate moved into action to summon the DSS director general when it got a petition signed by the 31 members of Rivers State House of Assembly. In the petition, the state lawmakers alleged among others that the DSS arrested some officials of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) and members of the Election Petition Tribunal and subjected them to intimidation, harassment and coercion to compromise the judicial independence of the Tribunal and pervert the cause of justice.

Soon they will be performing the function of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in Lagos

Or that of the Federal Road Safety Corps

Way to go!!! Thank God for the independence of the present NASS leadership.We need them to stem the current slide of the DSS into dictatorship.

If you had bothered to read the publication, you would have seen where it was stated that they received a petition from River state house of assembly, not Saraki reading Barcanista's thread. But then again, you are a saTANist A.K.A Wailing wailer, so i don't expect any better from you.

"Loyalty" has always been a dilemma for DSS -the delicate balance between loyalty to who appointed the boss/nation. I recall how several people lambasted the DSS under its former DG. Of course, I didnt support some of the actions of the DSS then, but I also knew that it would not be any different. Its a matter of changing "loyalty" to the new DG/C-in-C. Thats what the DSS have done (not that I support this). I was never swayed by those who expected to see a "new", "changed" and "professional" DSS under a new leadership. DSS will wax more powerful under its new DG and the current President -it was like that powerful when it was NSO during Buhari's tenure as military ruler back in the days. What do we do?
