What a way to go.... You expect bloggers that cannot complete a sentence to stop copy and pasting, they will always find fast lane.

It is a waste of time reporting to Google, Googlebot naturally crawl all published pages unless the authentic article was never published on your blog or website. It is amateurish to put a duplicate content on your site because it is the quickest way to get slapped by the google penguin and hummingbird update. My advise is that you get inbound links on all your pages. That way, all of your content contribute in giving credibility to your site.
Re: How To Report A Blog That Stole Your Content by Nobody: 2:40pm On Aug 06, 2015
When you upload your original article or blog post, do everything possible to get that particular page indexed by Bing.com and Google.com. Once you do that, there is no problem - the original article always ranks higher than the duplicate.

To find out if an article has been indexed by Bing or Google, just search on your article url.

It is an orientation issue. Institutions of learning in Nigeria are not doing enough to check plagiarism. They lack the capacity; software and technical know how to curb the menace. Therefore, they turn out graduates who cheated their way out of school. Schools outside are able to check students' work for plagiarism with software such Safe Assign. Safe Assign would tell you in matter of seconds where you lifted even a single line of phrase or an idea. Most people are not aware that copy right infringement is criminal. You may get away with it in blogs because it is not policed. Again there is the issue of fair-use; generally advancing issues that are important to the society. However, it is usually a good idea to cite your source. Agreed, people on social media do it under the guise of fair-use or freedom of expression. But don't stretch your luck too far, in real world it could be detrimental. Since many materials you find online are protected by copyright, my suggestions would be as follows;

Typical when you come across something of interest, one or two lines in quote would be ok.

You may not use another person's work to draw attention to your thread (work). This is not fair.

Lastly, depending on the length of the original work, use discretion when quoting.

Think of it, if someone is making a living from writing brochures (manuals), and you copied and pasted it on your thread, don't you think that you have rendered his business useless and damaged his source of income? This single act would cause him some pain and suffering.

Finally, for those who maybe following this thread, as long as you are expressing your own opinion, and advancing discussion in true faith, you have nothing to worry about.

Sorry to say... but it's a waste of your time.

Google does not control internet. Google is not police of the Web. If you like report to Google. . Google cancel adsense (Which they may not because you might not even be the owner of the content) that does not end the blog or delete the post :p

Even if it's WordPress. . Reporting to DMCA won't remove the post because DMCA is not recognize by Nigerian Constitution. So DMCA cannot even e enter the blog database in the first place let alone removing the post.

So it's a waste of time as far as Nigeria is concerned.

The real way to do it even though it may cost you...

Locate the Web hosting company of the website (it might not even be a blog. Not all sites are blogs are they?)

Report the issue to the Web host and wait for the Web host to take action. If the host does nothing, you may want to report to the Data center for copyright. The data center would contact the host and maybe compel them to take action. They may ask you to pay as a proof that it's really your content.

That is the only global method that works. .Not Google or DMCA. That is for USA maybe smiley

Your contribution is noted! Sir

This is quite interesting, OP...the only challenge is that someone like me will need to be reporting other folks daily!

What I have discovered (which works better for me) is to use Google Webmaster Tool to my advantage. Immediately I publish an entry, I 'fast forward' it and gets it indexed in mere minutes.

...Any half wit copying after that will see what happens when the next Google update comes onboard smiley

Guy, abeg, show us the way to do that method na! Thanks

Plagiarism is a very serious crime. How would someone spend time typing a valuable post then someone else will just steal the post without linking back

to the source .
In Nigeria most bloggers are experts at this that's why most Nigerian blogs are disapproved from adsense . Personally ,i hate when someone steals my content especially if it's a higher blog, it hurts. It makes you feel like
they're making your efforts worthless and you are just working for them.

I decided to share this post because of those that like copying and pasting other people's content. I can say that all the post on my blog were written by me
and nobody else. I was annoyed when a certain blogger on a forum nairaland.com asked me whether there's an award for writing your posts yourself. I agree there is no award for it
but when google and dmca comes for your blog you'll regret copying someone else's content.

In the U.S and some other countries, plagiarism could get you arrested . In Nigeria it just seems like nobody cares if you copy their content because the law enforcement agency won't do anything.

Now If you are a blogger and you find out that someone is copying your content here is what to do. If you keep copying people's content n the blogosphere, you don't deserve
to be respected.

if you don't know how to check if someone is stealing your posts just use copyscape.com or choose 28 words from the middle of any of
your posts then google it.
If someone steals your post , make a comment on the post asking him to link back to your blog or delete the post . If the person refuses
or thinks you're joking just follow these steps.

it is always painful when someone of people steal your effort and it is more painful when someone else gets credit for it. It is always better to take solace in the fact that they can rip off your post but they can't do that with your skills. Never.

I respectfully disagree with you. The first and most important people to file a DMCA with are the major search engines Google and Bing (by extension yahoo, duckduck and all the others) controls like 95% of organic traffic.

I've been doing this for years and nothing is as effective as getting them kicked out of adsense, amazon affiliate or any other ways they are making money on the site.

Reporting them to their hosting company (while some would take action) most would ignore your mail or say they are looking into it. Even when the host close their account the same site pops up within a few days on another hosting account.

Why not just disable highlighting of text and images on your blog, this will stop text and images selection and if text can't be selected then it can't also be copied.

Read further [xzt]Disable text selection on blogs and website[/url]

if you can see it in your browser, it means it is been rendered somehow, if it is rendered, then it can be copied.

Being kicked out of adsense does not remove the stolen content. And what if the person ain't using adsense ? undecided what if it's Nairaland for example who do you want to report to? Google? Yahoo? Seriously. Take your best shot.. the content will remain for d next 10 years

Hello bizfirst..please, kindly explain this post. I want to learn how to 'fast forward' my blog posts to.
Tired of all these people who steal ones intellectual property with impunity.

It's simple: use the Google Webmaster Tool, to fetch the URL as Google and then, request that it should be indexed. Usually, it takes barely minutes!

but wait, is there any need for that.... you should be happy your content is all over the internet self.....

CHECK MY SIGNATURE TO READ MY FUNNY SECRET DIARY

Without giving you credit? How can you be happy if your work is everywhere and you can't lay claim to it? How can you be happy if someone else is claiming your sweat? How can you be happy if someone else is getting the recognition/award for your work and you can't do a thing about it cos the work is free and is everywhere on the net?

People should learn to acknowledge original owners of contents. For every copied content on my blog, there's a link to the original website, that's how it should be

If the site does not use AdSense then the DMCA would cover it.
We file around 100 of these across all our websites monthly (that could go as high as 400 in November/December!)
We've filed over 50 DMCA against yahoo (yahoo answer or whatever they call their answering services these days). The results disappears from search results within 7 days.

I assume you know how search engine work - if there are DMCA against the content, it would not rank. Even if it would be there for 30 years - it makes no difference b/cos it would not show up in search result.
