Take it or leave it, an opposition party plays a significant role in governance. An active opposition part provides what we call “check and Balance” for the ruling party. A country without opposition is like a country of sheep. We have seen what opposition under APC looks like. They used the position and platform as an opportunity to overpower the ruling party. They expose the high-handedness and incompetency of PDP. Someone like Lia Mohammed was popular for alarms (False or True) and Propaganda. Most of his alarms were true E.g Our Military being under equipped…He was the first person to raise the alarm about election postponement. Nigerians tagged him as a false alarmist, and lo and behold, the election was postponed. However, we have seen on many occasions how some of his alarms were false. The role of an opposition is not limited to raising alarms. Calling the ruling party to order is also important. Based on these parameters, I will give APC 70/100. APC was not a bad opposition party, however, they were not that good. APC campaign was centered on fighting corruption. And who are the APC sponsors? Tinubu, Amaechi, OBJ ? I am not pointing fingers at anyone oooo. I digressed to APC, sorry for that. This text is centered on PDP. Many Tanoid are found of appraising Buhari government, despite its being 3 months old. We should also subject PDP activities to scrutiny. PDP and Tanoid might think they are no more responsible to anyone. This is wrong. For the fact that you are no more the government does not mean you are not filling another role in the society. Let us grade PDP. PDP have not offered any constructive criticism since they assumed the role of opposition party. They are just fixated on antagonizing the current government. They don’t care if government policies are beneficial to the masses or not. All they do is attack. No wonder the term “Whailer” surfaced Buhari is making attempts to recover looted funds domiciled in foreign countries. PDP are attacking him for recovering them. Are PDP and Tanoid telling Nigerians indirectly that these stolen monies belong to them and should not be recovered? E.g. $6billion in the USA. Some Tanoid are even writing Buhari to probe Amaechi and Tinubu to prove that he is not indulging in selective witch hunt. This is too low from a former ruling party. This is another level of incompetency. Common sense failed to play here. Federal Ministry of Petroleum is a Federal Ministry. It is under the jurisdiction of the Presidency. Buhari needs to know about transactions in this ministry. He has the right to probe the former minister of petrol. You need to get the current picture of the ministry to know where and what to fix in that ministry. Asking Buhari to probe Tinubu is cluelessness and absurdity at the highest level. And it shows they are panicking. Was Tinubu a Federal minister? Did he serve the Federal Government? Tinubu is in no way accountable to Buhari. PDP aired a documentary on Tinubu during the last election. This was about how Tinubu built his business/money empire through Lagos state treasury. I personally think this documentary is in order if can be backed up with evidences and documents. Ask any Lagosian, they know Tinubu is not clean. Amaechi might be working with Buhari, he has cases to answer. And look at the opposition we have, a non-existence and panicking opposition. I expect PDP to go underground doing their home work. I expect them to come out strong and mount a good presence. With all the noise they are making on Tinubu and Amaechi, whats stopping them from getting evidences and head to EFCC. If EFCC fails to act, then they can raise a true alarm and see how Nigerians will support them. My take, this is not how opposition works, however, its just 3 months. PDP might have something up their sleeves. They might be coming up with something. Till they start acting accordingly, they are officially whailing whailers. Grade: 30/100 It’s my assessment for the past 3 months. Things might change. Fingers crossed. OUT From a non-APC true Agent of Change |

hotwax:OK u right. but I disagree with ur scorecard APC raised were just alarmist and propagandists during their role as opposition. its just four months as opposition for PDP, just like the clamour to give buhari time let's give PDP time. |

bonechamberlain:I like that bold part. Constructive. But we see Bacanista and Tanoid articles stating how Buhari failed the country just 3 months into it. If we are appraising the government of Buhari, what about the opposition? |

If the PDP have performed poorly so far, according to you, then you should be happy and need not post this epistle. Their low marks, according to you, puts them in the region of a club like Everton. Now ask yourself, why should Chelsea or Manchester city, which here can be related to the almighty APC care about what Everton's preparations are for the new season |

hinwazaka:You are not getting the point. PDP performing is not good for the country. We need a good opposition. A reasonable one. No noise makers. FYI, I dont pray PDP fails as opposition. I want them to be there and proactive. |

hinwazaka:It is only in Nigeria a ruling party will be "rating" opposition performance as "opposition". In fact, APC is the only ruling party to rate opposition party. This is another testament that APC is the ruling-opposition. They are opposing the "opposition" PDP instead of ruling. Btw: APC is feeling the heat |
| Re: Score Card - Appraising PDP As An Opposition Party by hinwazaka: 11:29am On Aug 07, 2015 |
hotwax:The opposition's performance will be appreciated or rebuked by the electorate and not you. You are a singular entity in a large pool of people so this can be attributed as your opinion. There have been no polls, to the best of my knowledge, that has been conducted to appraise the ratings of all the political parties. So therefore no one knows yet if PDP is lagging behind or hitting a home run. Let the people decide and don't try to speak for them |
| Re: Score Card - Appraising PDP As An Opposition Party by hinwazaka: 11:36am On Aug 07, 2015 |
barcanista:The strategy by the APC to convince the people to accept totalitarian rule, by trumpeting the supposed weakness of the opposition is an outdated one. They had better go back to the situation room and put their heads together to brainstorm on new effective ideas. This one is simply DOA |
| Re: Score Card - Appraising PDP As An Opposition Party by hotwax(op): 11:39am On Aug 07, 2015 |
hinwazaka:I think its PDP that should go to the drawing board to strategize on how to be an opposition. Else, Nigerians will just see them as noise makers. |
| Re: Score Card - Appraising PDP As An Opposition Party by hinwazaka: 11:55am On Aug 07, 2015 |
hotwax:You are mistaken, because no one expects much from opposition elements. The spotlight is left for the full glare of the party in power. So PDP don't have to do much. All they have to do is wait and capitalise on any mistakes made by the APC. Its not rocket science to play in the opposition field but its harder than quantum physics to survive in the spotlight |
