YES! 90% of 2:2 & 3:1 graduates had d wrong attitude which was largely responsible for d result they got. I went through d school system I know what I am talking abt. Most of them laziness and non-challancy did nt make dem prapare adequately for tests & exams.

Some will come here & start blaming lecturers. U have 8-10 semesters to prove ur self and u couldnt. I know how i was personally tounted by my mates for being too serious in school. There was no form of names they didnt call me. Well, i got d result i wanted and thank God for where I am today.

U cannot sow ground-nuts and expect to reap yams.

My friend you make laugh, 90%, really? I know how you feel, you are probably a 2:1 or first class graduate, and you feel that it is not fair for 2:2, 3rd class and Pass graduates to be getting jobs you are suppose to be getting. Well, its too bad for you, because they will get the jobs, and there is nothing you can do about it.

If you look closely, there are probably more 2:2 to pass students in the labour market, doing great, and even having their own personal business, if you continue with the mindset that the power of success is in the good grade you graduate with from the university, then you will certainly not live beyound average life my friend, you might be able to rent a house, have a car, send your children to okay schools, but that will be all, until you start seeing that success has much more work than having 2:1 and first class.

Y should I stop any body from getting any jobs. So it is only 2:2 & pass graduates that end up rich and own businesses. Continue consoling ur self.

My advice to students is: jst study hard in school. Play ur own part by graduating with a good grade to avoid stories that touch.

ohh, my friend, for your information I finished Electrical Engineering with a good 2:1, so am not consoling myself, even if I had a 2:2 I will still not need to console myself, because I believe in myself more than a piece of paper.

And also with your first class, it seems you still do not know how to read with understanding, pardon me if you feel offended by this statement, but I never mentioned that only 2:2 and e.t.c graduates end up rich and own business. What I meant in context is that somehow most of them do not believe in their result, so they develop themselves in other things, and they do come out successful, while on the other hand, "we" with 2:1 and first class believe so much in our result, so what we do is look for jobs instead of develop our inner person. I hope you can pick other points from this context, and not misquote me again.

So far, am the only one in my family with a 2:1, my other siblings have 2:2, but they are all working and doing very very well, when I saw the other post asking if there is hope for 2:2 and pass, I ignored it because I felt the person just wanted to create his own thread.

I have never looked as 2:2 or pass as a problem at all, I do not even know why people complain, if you attended a school like Ahmadu Bello University, then you will know that 2:2 is really a first class in disguise, as a matter of fact for Biochem graduates, Pass is glorious.

You've always being an inspiration. Welcome to PH- the land of opportunities. You're a testimony.

Our certificates are not a guarantee for success or failure. It's our determination, vision and relationships that matter most.

Yea brother. Thanks! Graduates really need to be told that there not so great degree certificates should not be allowed to define their post graduate lives. Success out here is about knowing what you need, knowing all it will take to get that thing you need, and going all out until you get it. It's all about having the right information and enough determination.

They say that the man with knowledge fears nothing, not even the gods. And the man with determination? Yea, the world is always ready to step aside for him. Whether first class or tenth class, everyone must put in much effort to succeed in the post graduate world. Everyone must put in faith/unwavering resolve to succeed. There really can't be failure is faith!

My post graduate life journey, every step of it, is something I'm definitely going to tell here.

ur opinion but I accept not.

all I knw is education in nigeria is crazy, especially in state universities.. I cant judge any graduate based on grades...dia are so many 2.1 candidates who cant eve defend it.

I judge on what u can offer, not what u grad with.

My dear, you said it all
Re: YES! There Is Hope For 2.2 And Third Class Grads: Job Hunting Tips by phloxie(f): 9:28am On Aug 11, 2015
As far as am concerned, grade doesn't really matter, i know someone who graduated with first class but can't defend, can't complete a sentence without using past tense, when you ask her a question, the way she explains it never adds up nd the way she talks makes you wonder if dis person attended skul atall but she is leaving with first class all because she was a course rep

what else is your so called achievements in life if not that,,we go to school and read to live a comfortable lifestyle.....

"Comfortable lifestyle"?
When the purpose of a thing isn't known, abuse they say is inevitable
If that's all you want, you don't have to go to any school to get it.
So I'll be ashamed/regretted if the only gains a person from a "good" education is a "comfortable lifestyle".

Cos then, the person is only a little better than the unlearned.
Not to say it's not worth a venture though as an educated but wretched life is also not pleasant

Btw, hope your day went fine?

yes...2.2 is really first class in disguise in some dept in some schools.... chemistry dept @ eksu (unad) is hell...I mean hell

What do you mean? As far there are persons graduating with first class or 2.1 from that department .

2.2 or third class is not a first class in disguise anywhere. It is what circumstances and your personal effort derived for you.

I know 2.2 is not really easy but as far people graduated with 2.1 from that dept or university, it means there is something you didn't do while in school which you must start doing after school.

Most people do criticized the first class and good 2.1 while in school as being unsociable and a "jew". They use their time judiciously to make good grades in school. When they are studying, some are in the clubs and parties enjoying themselves. Everything in life is sacrifices. If you can pay the price, nature will reward you for it.

Being a 2.2 or third class graduate never make you a lesser citizens or person. Just that it reduces your chances to really display what you have within. If one can be persistent and acquire the right skills with God's grace, everything will fall in place.

The most important thing is to do your best while in school.

It is better you understand the kind and nature of your country as a student. The country concentrate more on paper qualification before mental qualification.

The firs class and 2.1 student depend more on their results because some invested so much time in their studies while in school to make sure they graduate with good grades. They understand the economy and don't want stories that touches the heart latter tomorrow. So you don't expect someone that has put in extra efforts on his studies to just throw the result away after school. They need to be rewarded for their hard work while in school.

Am not generalizing but most third class graduate might just be product of unfavorable circumstances. Either they were not serious while in school or were not hard working or they lost it somewhere. Most of them learn from their reckless undergraduate life style that didn't pay them in school and start buckling up to meet the demands of the market. Some start cultivating the hard work syndrome they never exhibited while in school. Most of them don't put interest on their results because they know, it might take them nowhere, so the aftermath effort and zeal toward their career might later give them opportunity to unveil what they have and eventually open doors for them.

Be it first class, 2.1 or 2.2 or third class. Life is a matter of chance and grace. Most importantly is to put in your best to acquire the good grades if you can...
