@Shyee lol @ "i might have been a gambler...and to your toast i am playing Kenny Rogers song- the Gambler. grin"

Abeg apply to more than one school this time o. MUN is not the only cheap school but even if it were, don't be a gambler again bros. Many research masters programs provide funding. Btw, I think you are making the right move by contacting potential research supervisors even before applying. Earlier in the thread someone posted these tips on getting a research supervisor; hope it helps you. This thread is a gold mine if you use it strategically. Read read read bro!

Per TRV application, when you are ready I'm sure there will be people on this thread to help you look over your SOP. And you can also always contact me.

aint nothing weird about it CALA tracking number applies to study permit applications submitted online whilst GHAN tracking number applies to Paper applications.

I disagree, especially at the person who said all applications are processed in Ghana.

I also have CALA in my tracking number and the text I got says my application has been sent to the canadian visa office Lagos.

I got a call from them recently to confirm some info in the application and it was from a Lagos landline and I googled to confirm it was real and the address that comes with that landline is their Lagos office. So yea some applications are actually processed in Lagos or so I think.

I'm still yet to get a medical call up tho. Submitted online 30th of June. Fingers crossed.

Wow! Lovina1245 you're a blessing! Thank you for the all these info. I checked Hi-Jericho before now price for a night was quite low but my worry was that it is dormitory setting thus I was trying to imagine how one would secure luggage. And also the proximity to school since it is 3.4km to UBC. What do you think about St. Andrew's housing? Thank you for the hint about raincoat and food ;-)

your luggage is safe + u'll be given a locker. never heard of saint andrew.. my advise: get here before you start house hunting... you can catch a ubc 22 bus heading to ubc from downtown. (hi jericho). the sweet thing is u'll get an apt to move in once u land.. of course, thats if you have cash. apts are plenri... but your taste is what counts. so get here, and u'll get apts in the next 1 hour

Can you see its obvious CIC is discriminating PGD applicants.
How come we have Msc applicants of July who have gotten there TRV? Till now there is no logical explanation to ignoring other applicants.

Yea maybe after your passport has been requested for it is then sent to Ghana for the stamping.
But I believe some of us especially those who applied online or are applying for a spousal open work permit have their applications worked on in Lagos then maybe Ghana for final decision.

Well all that's not important to me, if dem like send am to Timbuktoo or Kafanchan e don't matter. Except when u are this close to resumption and u are concerned about how long it will take for your passport to be dispatched.

Yoou can say that again.
I want you to remember the kind of backlog we had in may....
It may be happening to june applicants now...and majority are coincidentally college stduents.
My friend who applied to NAIT got medical caall 14th july and he applied June 22nd.

Isn't NAIT a college?..

Except NAIT and SAIT is considered differently which I suspect.

No offence but I think you did not read my post very well and you are replying the wrong person.
1. What I have said consistently is that all study permit applications are processed in Ghana (Online & Paper) which is true, until such a time CIC says otherwise. I have never said all Categories of application are processed in Ghana.
2. When I replied @Thebae that CALA was online route and GHAN being paper route I was refering specifically to study permit applications only.
I will encourage you to please read posts very well and reply the appropriate nairaland moniker that you agree or disagree with.

Good a.m. Pals!!!
Pls I have a couple of questions for the house.
Is Air Travel Insurance (ATI) necessary/ a must to enter Canada? So also, Yellow Fever Card?
Secondly, connecting flight I saw to Halifax N.Scotia will pass through US( New York or so), pls is there any other way round to enter Canada apart from enroute US( to avoid Transit Visa Quagmire)
I will appreciate anybody travelling to Halifax around August 31, for co - brainstorming.
Thanks.

@stechi there are no guarantees for a Canada visa but you can significantly up your chances with the right strategy and documents.

For info on schools, see my previous posting and don't forget to click on @richcasey's links which contain lots of key points.

To best prepare a visa application strategy, I would strongly recommend you read a couple hundred pages of this thread. As a minimum, you should start reading from page one of Part 8. To become a Canada visa guru, you should additionally read one or more of Part 5, 6, and 7. Please do take the time to read read read! Best of luck.

@kuzee, you are welcome.

quite a helpful reply,thanks alot.

All guru in the house, please enlighten me.

Is it possible to be granted a visa after purchasing a house in Canada from Nigeria? I would love to be visiting Canada thereafter once in a while.

What do you advise?
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:56am On Aug 12, 2015
You can look at multiple airline eg Virgin and Air Canada has LOS-LHR-YHZ I'm not sure if you'll need a transit visa to go through Heathrow but you might want to get a UK visa cos the layover is very long.
There are other multiple airline flights that you can check for as well. Check Momondo, travelstart etc.
