AuntySusan:Im not really getting you, but im gonna guess you mean people transfer their dislike for GEJ to Igbos. I doubt thats true. Igbos do get disliked for supporting GEJ though which is something that is unfair and idiotic. |

Ichieboxy:Lies and propaganda simply flees in the light of the truth. Bro, no one could have relayed this information better than u. Oga jona really suffered in the hands of these guys and I hope he has a thick skin to get thru all these despite the fact that it is still ongoing. |

AuntySusan:Ma, it is one thing to hate a person and it is another thing to hate what a person stands for. Both may coincide in an individual because of prejudice which may be mutual. My observation in Nairaland is that people are hardly objective. In 2011 I was in court to defend GEJ right to contest and I led a detachment of his campaign successfully. Nobody saw him from Igbo perspective then. Some people dared the President and the nation through terror and corruption and brought the country to its kneels. GEJ response can be summarized as: they want to spoil my govt so that I as a minority will not be reelected. This was the point where majority of Igbos and Niger Deltans moved in to get GEJ reelected. Ma, when people are dying of terror, hunger and destitution and you saw it basically from "they hate me point of view" then they for God sake don't deserve to continue in their misery under you even if you deserve the privilege of leading them. For me the Chibok girls saga was the turning point. Nobody gets a second chance for doubting whether his daughter has been kidnapped or not or whether it was a prank or not. A crime of kidnapping over 200 girls was committed the mighty state apparatus could not ascertain its autheticity or enormity until some eternal 200 hours. when you compare Stella Oduah bullet proof cars to the immigration recruitment saga, Stella was a glorious saint. it was against this backdrop with its many wears and tears that the lately redeemed GEJ sought reelection. His supporters added to his electoral defeat by druming and dancing at the background of the wailings of the maimed, destitute, sick and the beareaved, this you will agree is not how to court the love and support of agonizing world. |

TRUTHTOPOWER:Sir, You've made some great points but being fair to Jonathan, APC with their propaganda never saw anything good in his admin. His best of moves were seen as clueless. Even now, the new admin are doing some of the things they used against him then Talking about 'they hate me' game. Don't you think Buhari is doing the same thing too? So far he has cheated the Igbos out of his appointments by given them one or two out of almost 20 appointments. People have complained but he doesn't care. Even that his 97% and 5% speech didn't come out right at all in the midst of the his controversial appointments(though I want to believe I understood what he was trying to say). Now how many of his supporters on nl see anything wrong with that statement? This research has exposed me to so many ills going on in Nigeria and I'll be lying to myself if I say Jonathan was(is) as bad as he was painted or that Buhari is as good as he's currently being painted. I think We all see what we want to see depending on how it suits us. My opinion though |

change49ja:I thought you are sincere, objective and detribalised! If Biafrans are the ones hindering it's actualization, why on earth would Yorubas troop to the media and shout, cry, weep, wail, yell, curse and make much noise on every available media just at the mention of Biaf...? Why would your Yoruba people (Christians or Moslems) make a career out of abuse and slurs whenever Igbos talk about self-determination? Why would several Yorubas come online with fictitious and fraudulent names and monikers, masquerading as minority tribes, Delta-Igbos, Rivers-Igbos, and others to attack and spread hate messages against Igbos? By the way, can you explain why Yorubas and Hausa -Fulanis, with the aid of UK, Russia and Egypt, engaged Biafrans in war for 3 years just to keep them in this fraudulent union? |

AuntySusan:You have made valid points ma. however if you look at my post, the issue is far beyond who gets what, where and how for me - in terms of appointment. As a Yoruba, a may protest my exclusion from power. But as a human being I must not forget that I am not the only one so excluded. and that mine is a thousand times better than others. Let me tell you that there are only 109 senatorial seat a in Nigeria and there over 250 ethnic groups. in other words some ethnic groups cannot boast of a single senatorial seat! that for me is gross injustice. it may be argued that they are minorities. for that I adopt the view of Laski that; the Lion may roar to express hunger, the cat may bellow a gentle meow. we do not know the starving sound of an ant, but each is ezpressing at its utmost the same biological need. It may sound quite naive in Nigeria to argue that we should not complain of exclusion from power insofar we are not under the basis of that exclusion also denied the ends to which power is devoted. It has to be proved first that, those who are included have certain social and economic advantage over those who are excluded. Northern Nigeria has little to show for inclusion. Nothing shows that "Ibogun" of OBJ or Ikenne of Awo ever produced leaders that transformed other places. I am not making any case for the character of this two leaders here- just proving a point. with the many LGs Chairmen, Reps, comissiomers, Govs, senators, ministers of the big tribes what is the significant advantage in terms of human capital development. So AuntySusan, appointments is not truly worthy of humanitarian debate, in fact it does injustice to our education - in terms of intellectual priorities. GEJ is not as bad as his harshest critics ascert nor PMB as good as his greatest advocates sing. But that is hardly the point if we are discussing way forward in a theatre of war. It may serve some academic purposes to know exactly how good or how bad or it maybe gratifying for the fans of both leaders. But at this time of the day, 5:24 am, my joy is the voice I have added to clamour for social justice going forward. good morning. |

change49ja:Tell me, what is in that thread you created - where you have Yoruba people commenting in their anger and bitterness of how Igbos will suffer in Biafra? A case of taking panadol for another person's headache! Have a look at the content and tone of your write-up. If you are indeed sincere and objective why would you try in vain to suppress your bitterness about Igbos seeking a separate existence? change49ja:And see your biased comment somewhere down the line... change49ja: |

rman:Being a human being a bit neutral in today's politics, I can see through both past n present administration Would you deny that Buhari is now doing some of the things he used against Jonathan? Funny enough his nl fans that insulted GEJ for doing same are now singing his praise. On a good day, that should be an insult on our collective intelligence but I guess u see what u want to see, the way u want to see it Also for the scope of my research, I have to argue more with those opposed to my topic so I can extract their reasons. Their opinion/reasons are also very important to my research than those that support. Like I mentioned in the op, my little research on about 18 nl moniker (Pro Buharists) shows that they mostly hate/insult GEJ same way they insult/hate Igbos. (Very anti Igbo and anti GEJ at the same time). Won't that be tempting for u to conclude if u were in my shoes?lol Of course I want to know why is that? And the best people to engage(even more aggressively) on this are the culprits |
| Re: Attention!!!!!!!!!!!Any Correlation Btw The Hate For Jonathan And That For Igbos by Nobody: 9:46am On Aug 13, 2015 |
TRUTHTOPOWER:But SW also complained about being sidelined in GEJ's admin. Why should Igbos now be the ones getting the lecture about 'appointments doesn't improve your standard of living' If only one family life is changed with appointment, that is one less family to worry about poverty?lol As much as OBJ's tenure didn't do much for an average Yoruba man, believe it or not, lots of Yorubas still benefitted from it(though on individual basis) Again my opinion sir |
| Re: Attention!!!!!!!!!!!Any Correlation Btw The Hate For Jonathan And That For Igbos by rman: 10:34am On Aug 13, 2015 |
AuntySusan:Then your research topic can be rephrased to suit those that will argue for the other side (Buhari, APC and north) and you will realise both are exactly mirror images (pardon my physics). |

AuntySusan:Well then ma, maybe I am not an ideal person to debate the merits of appointment with. Yorubas who complained are the PDP stock. They mainstream Progressives even rejected speakership. We careless about anything that cannot change the prize of Garri. If your ideology does not connect with the intelligenstia of Great Ife, UI, UNILAG and the rebel Wild Wild Wild West media, you are on your own even if you were the President and son of the Soil. ObJ lost to less known Olu Falae in his (obj) ward. Falae is from Ondo state. Today Obj in the west mainstream will flog Falae in Ondo State. Obj could not enter Ife (OAU) because of idelogical uprising. Today, he will be celebrated. what made the difference 'ideology' not office. Ebenzer Babatope who should be De jure leader of Yorubas can no longer mobilize the ideological base. why? he is of the reactionary PDP base. If Ezekwesili joins PDP today with her ideological mien intact, she will be celebrated and respected in the West more than the reactionary son of the soil. Awo baptized Yorubas with activism not office. Nonetheless any office that comes as of democratic right will be ideologocally defended in the West. Ask yourself, why is Tinubu so popular without holding national office like Dimeji Bankole or Obj It is not Because of money. Harry Akande is richer by far, Buruji is heavily endowed but Tinubu knows when to promote a prince to "kinghood"as in BRF and Osinbajo. get the Machiavellian drift? It was rumoured that he wanted to change BRF in 2011 but he knew that the masses will revolt. so Tinubu swims in the direction of popular demand ideologically. I am not saying he is a saint or there are no exceptions to the general rule. But the golden rule is that you must be ideologically grounded. Osun people are sympathetic towards Aregbesola because of the ideologocal adventure of empowerment which shattered the state but. again am not debating the wisdom of his choice. the whole point is that Ideology which kept Yorubas in opposition since 1960 is more appealing than official titles. we have a saying "we listen to a child who complains of lack of food and not the one who complains of lack of meat." once the system eliminates hunger and deprivation, the rest is by the way. let those prosper who show the power to triumph. |

TRUTHTOPOWER:Refrain from spreading more lies and fabricating baseless ideology to attempt to cover up the atrocious deeds of your people! You and I know that Yorubas and APC cried that Yorubas were marginalized in GEJ's goverment and they used every media available to champion the course during the elections. Nobody marginalised the Yorubas under GEJ government. The Yorubas were over favoured for 8 solid years with a highly corrupt Obasanjo regime. That regime created the likes Femi Otedola, Wale Tinubu, GLO Adenuga, Jimoh Ibrahim etc, exploding the numbers of Yoruba captains of industries. “Karma comes after everyone eventually. You can't get away with screwing people over your whole life, I don't care who you are. What goes around comes around. That's how it works. Sooner or later the universe will serve you the revenge that you deserve.” - Jessica Brody |

xtrorse:May God deliver you, OK. Back to the Bona fide audience: Yorubas do not worship names and money. famous (not notorious) rich people are respected. anyone who is not submerged in the miasma of primitive aggrandizement will see how ridiculously pointless it is to see Yoruba world through the wealth of Otedolas. I am not saying this to please anyone nor will I change my view on the account of virulent propaganda for or against my ethnicity, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili is a role model all Women should emulate. not least because she speaks truth-to-power. for Yoruba and Igbo haters alike, let no man trouble me for I bear the mark of the Lord! |

change49ja:If Okorocha had not damaged much of the social infrastructure he met on ground in many parts of Imo state, especially in Orlu areas, when he became governor, he wouldn't attract much hatred like that. But the man scrapped roads, demolished sports stadium, worsened erosion problems in these areas, and abandoned them since 2012. Residents suffer. People voted him second term out of fear that if he left, those abandoned projects would not be completed. But it seems Okorocha has taken the second term votes to mean that the people are stupid. |

chocolateme:The truth is that many sets of Nigerians outside the Igbo believe that Jonathan had people of Igbo descent managing some important and most sensitive departments in his administration. And for those sets of Nigerians, Igbo is not supposed to manage important and most sensitive departments in Nigeria's polity and economy, given the history of Nigeria's civil war which if Biafra had succeeded, Biafra would have gone with it the oil-producing areas. So whatever positive contribution of Jonathan administration was either downgraded or completely seen by those sets of Nigerians as bad. In other words, there is a strong correlation between the hatred for Jonathan and the hatred for the Igbo. The lust for crude oil proceeds coming from the Nigerdelta is in the details of the hate for the Igbo, hatred which was therefore transferred to Jonathan. |

TRUTHTOPOWER:May you be delivered from your wicked lies! You, bear the mark of the Lord? And you still boldly propagate lies in the public domain like many of your fellow, supposed Yoruba Christians who still patronise juju houses and play with lies? The type of politics South West play is politics of god-fatherism and imposition. If not why would criminals like BAT and Obj hold sway in Yoruba kingdom? Yorubas honours corruption and that is why many of their leaders are corrupt. Even Fela attested to that; that his ethnic brother had to kill Fela's mother to get back at him for exposing the secret code of their corruption. |

It is a well known fact that IGBOs are the most accomodating tribe in the country. It is highly unfortunate and regrettable about the high level of discrimination the face in other parts of the country. When other tribes come to igbo land, they feel very free and exercise their fundamental human rights but Igbos in the North and West are being treated with high level of hatred. People should understand that Igbos are the ones holding the economy of this country. Take it or leve it, GEJ is the best thing that happened to this nation. He was the President of the entire country unlike the one who is the President of a tribe. |
