About 6years back my mother with some other employees of Delta state government was assigned to Ecobank for their salary accounts. Over the years it has been bittersweet. Sometimes my mom goes to make a withdrawal in the branch at Abraka and they tell her there is no network. On such days, the bank staff spend majority of the day virtually doing nothing while the hapless workers groan. I have never seen such in my banking with Zenith and First banks.

Recently my relatives outside started sending money to the account. My mom went to the bank to make an enquiry. She was told it was okay and given a document by bank officials which I sent to my relative outside. Since then she has been receiving money and also making withdrawals.
Today she went to make another withdrawal only to be told her account has been blocked. Why? Because the money there is too much for her account type. They told her to bring national ID card and PHCN bill to edit the account. I was really incensed when she told me.
The question now is how can less than 1mil be too much for an account? Even if my mom never withdrew her salary, it would have gotten to over one mil. So will they also block it then and tell her to edit it.
Pls I need better explanation of this policy from those who have experienced it in the past. I need your help. I wanted to call their customer care but someone complained here the other day about their rude staff.

Moderators pls help me put this in the appropriate place.Cc lalasticlala

Nigerians simply have to learn how to follow laws......banking regulations are constantly being updated........and if the requirements are that further identification is now needed....your mother just has to comply...... sad....if she wants her money... undecided

Guys, I've found a way of complaining my odd moments with Ecobank, someone just told me of Ecobank_Ombudsman-01-2260450. I have also tried it and it works effectively; the call was answered under_30seconds
