I have come across a poster littering the cyber space with some spurious links with such claims. He claims that the only time they voted an outsider is when there are no yoruba contestants.
And in trying to take his stupidity to a higher level, he hypothesised that the igbo on the other hand do not vote their own. He based his claim on the fact that ojukwu lost his presidential bidding in Igboland.
Firstly, there has never been an election in Nigeria where no yoruba man did not contest. In 2007, there was Dr. Tunji Braithwaite. Why did the yorubas voted Yaradua?
In 2011 there was Dele Momodu why did they voted gej? And in 2015 there was this kowa woman, why did they voted Buhari and gej?
He may want to argue that those were not serious contenders. Yes, they were not. But was ojukwu a serious contender when he contested under apga?
Since the return to democracy in 1999, nigeria has been a one party state at the national level until 2013 when cpc and acn formed an alliance. So there was no way ojukwu was going to win even if all the Igbos voted for him.
Why did the Igbos voted shagari against awolowo, a southerner, if not that shagari had an Igbo as vice.
