JUSUS!! I TRIED THREE OF OUR MICROWAVES AND THE PHONE WORKED. AM NOT SURE I CAN THROW THEM.

My phone range in the Microwave that I got a few weeks ago. So how will I know a good one now? Will I start putting phone inside before buying. Funny thing is for I don't see myself throwing this one away because I just got it less than 4 weeks. The product is LG

Edited.... I called my z10 inside it but it didn't ring... I then called my Nokia touch light but that phone no gree hear word... it just kept ringing.

Thanks @tonychristopher for the information. However take note:
[m.wikihow.com/check-a-microwave-for-leaks]
Some web sites recommend using a cell phone to test a microwave oven for radiation leakage. You are supposed to put your cell phone in the oven and try to call it. If it rings, it is supposed to indicate a leak. However, this method is wrong because cell phones operate at different frequencies than microwave ovens. Even if the cell phone rings in the oven, this does not indicate a leak, so it is nothing to worry about. Protection against microwave leakage in microwave ovens is specifically tuned to the frequency of the microwaves (2.4 GHz) and is not expected to prevent other frequencies to get through (cell phone frequencies are in the 800 to 1900 MHz range).

Are you telling us to play around radiation leak?
Don't you know how dangerous radiation is?
If a microwave is leaking radiation, it should be thrown away.
Electromagnetic wave has different types including Radio wave. Also they have different characteristics. The test method as advocated here is flawed and not appropriate test for such leakage. Radiation does not linger or lurk around after the device is turned off. So there is nothing like playing around with radiation. Remember that cell phone like radio waves are not ionizing radiation.

Don't mind them. When I put 3 lines in one micro wave, airtel and etisalat refuse to ring but mtn stubborn and it's rang meaning mtn has stronger frequency.

I bet u used mtn line, try airtel and etisalat, u will see d phone waves differs so that can't determine the leakage.

Before you dispose your microwave: Note about using a cell phone to test for microwave leaks

Op are u serious we should dispose dat stuff? My popsi no go gree o

My dear if u like put ur phone in a freezer or a cooler. If d network is gud it will ring. So d ringing of ur phone in a microwave does not give 100% guarantee of radiation leakage.

is it a must to use a microwave? ...........make i go throway this one jo.
Re: Have You Checked Your Microwave For Radiation Lately? by Freksy(m): 11:49pm On Aug 21, 2015
laginks:
Nigerians can so believe anythingThe "cell phone" test is a fraud. Cell phones operate on a frequency range much lower than microwaves (800 MHz for phones and 2.5 GHz for the ovens), and the metal screen in the microwave door won't affect them. The phone will ring loud and clear and it doesn't mean the oven is leaking microwaves.

You can buy a "microwave leakage test card" at some stores that supposedly change color when you hold in front of the door if the oven is leaking microwaves. This is also a fake. It actually responds to heat, on the thory that if heat is escaping around the door then microwaves are too. That's wrong.

The only sure way to test for microwave leakage is with a standardized leakage test meter. This is a fairly expensive electronic device. You really don't need to worry about microwave leakage unless the door of the oven is visibly out of alignment so that it isn't closing and sealing properly. If the door hasn't been getting slammed shut and the oven hasn't been dropped, everything should be fine. Take the oven to a service shop for a leakage test if you are concerned.

One final note: Microwave energy drops off rapidly with distance. Just don't stand right in front of the oven while it's running.

Hope this helps ease your mind. Thanks !
As true as the above debunk is, we won't still take it, for our gullible minds are made up already to throw away our microwave oven... lol

The above is also from the link the op provided, but more than 90% of us never clicked and read through.

Don't mind them. Simply application of properties of electromagnetic waves. Let me explain this in layman's terms;
Electrmagnetic waves have these properties

1) Frequency
2) Wave length
3) velocity
4)Amplitude

Here, we are concerned with the first two- Frequency and wave length. In the information in this thread, the writer has only focused on Frequency in drawing his conclusion. A good question would be how does wave frequency correlate with radiation leakage and by extension tissues/cell damage? Is the wave frequency a significant determinant of ionizing effect of radiation? Wave frequency is just how many cycle of the wave we have in a given second. That is the reason a radio frequency that is in Mega Hz is not harmful but an x-ray of just 500Hz may be fatal. Follow on and I will explain because this is were the poster failed in his experiment.

The wave length of electromagnetic waves determine how penetrating the wave would be. There are those that are categorized as having short wave length while some have long wave length. Don't get this confused - the short wave length waves are more penetrating than the long wave length because they carry more energy. That is why there are divided into two groups called the high energy and the low energy waves. Gamma ray, x-ray, alpha and beta ray all have short wave length.

Who ever that came up with this experiment should give me an answer to following analogy. If you are driving in a subway tunnel does your car radio go off? does you cell phone go off?. The answer is no for the former and yes for the later. It is so because they have different frequencies.

Therefore wave length and not wave frequency is a more appropriate property to determine the penetrating power of any electromagnetic wave for which microwave is one of them.
Most importantly, Microwaves are non-ionizing wave, they can only cause heat. Except you have dead skin which can not feel heat, then you may remain in the path of the wave long enough to cause damage.

Test short wave length with a long one?
country of m0r0ns, little wonder they cured Ebola with salt water.
Plot a graph of the penetrating power of a micro wave vs that of a radio wave before talking nonsense!
Your fellow goats bought it anyways, RIP Nigerian youths.

if you own a microwave cooker, just throw it away now!

Google why.

Thank me later.

My people, the OP is well-intentioned but sorely mistaken. At 1st glance I knew this experiment was wrong as mobile phone transmits at 800,1800 and 1900MHz and this can penetrate microwaves which are designed to transmit 2400MH. The longer wavelengths of phonecall would easily penetrate the barrier just like sound waves would penetrate walls but TV remote can't (assuming the remote is using infrared o, cos some now used other RFs).
The part I wasn't sure of was cancer risk you ppl expressed. Well, even then there is no cancer risk associated with microwaves and more interestingly, if you simply move away from even a leaking microwave, the energy simply dissipates before it would have gotten to you.
A better test I thought of and tried this morning is using your Bluetooth on two phones. Put oone in the microwave as before and try to send a small picture file from the one outside. Bluetooth uses the 2400MHz spectrum and so that would give you a correct result. My microwave failed the phonecall test but passed the bluetooth test.
