My turning point was when i asked myself these 3 simple question 'how do you know if an equation is correct or wrong'? 'Why cant I just wake up from sleep and write an equation'? 'How are equations derived'? And that was when my eyes opened. The icing on the cake was when i realised math problems could also be solved logically even without equations in some cases..

What was your turning point?

calculus was my turning point. cheesy

I was shocked at the straightforwardness and fun that calculus held. I remember then, I would make up sixth order equations and differentiate them completely, only to integrate them back to life. I searched everywhere for unique equations I could find just to differentiate. From geometric formulas to statistics formulas. I didn't even care if my derivatives were useful or not. It was just so great.
Obviously, I soon got tired of calculus and began hunting for other topics that could give me the same dopamine rush calculus did, and that was how mathematics hooked me. The day I realized that the process was the most important thing. Not the final answer. cheesy
