Sometimes i am puzzled to how people act.

They say the Yoruba race started from IFE. We have a prince that wants to be a King in Ife, going to Kano, Kaduna, ABuja and other "NORTHERN STATES" lobbying to be the King of a Yoruba land.

Lobbying for a Western Stool, in the Northern part of Nigeria.

So what exactly am i missing here?does this mean the Ooniship will be decided in the North? or are the Kingmakers living in the North?or maybe Ife is related to the North?once upon a time, Oba's used to be picked very quietly. But now? everything has been politicized for selfish reasons.

What happened to the Oracles making the choice of who rules?anyway i am just an observer, performing my Civic duty.
It may interest you to know that Sanusi was equally all over South West states before he was enthroned.

As the most qualified son of Ooni dynasty, it's natural for him to pay courtesy visits to people like Sanusi and other elder and young Statesmen in Nigeria.

You guys are the one attaching all sort of unnecessary sentiment to all this.

It goes to show that the Ooni stool as grown from just being a Yoruba obaship position to one of national importance. The position is so important that the choice of who mounts the throne next is now a national concern.

The above notwithstanding, I personally disapprove of the campaign methods of prince Aderemi. The ruling house he came from is not eligible to present candidates in this particular contest, so, his candidacy is not valid. He should stop lobbying politicians to help him bypass the existing rotation policy.
Chai national concern indeed!!! Lol let me know when the appointment of the Abobaku become's international concern

Shame on damola Aderemi. How can a prince from ife take off his shoes for a kano emir. Ife princes or princesses are exempted from taking off their shoes when visiting or being visited by other royals, even when visiting the Ooni. Yet, damola sees nothing wrong with taking off his own shoes for an hausa emir in kano.
Emir is king my friend. A Prince aspires to become king , and only a few of them will be. He must give respect to a king.

Am not doubting the fact that the prince went seeing notable and dignitaries since the demise of the late Ooni of ife, but however, I don't want us to jump into conclusion, perhaps, they could have been allies long ago even b4 the oba's transition.... hmmmm, I know the journalist will spear us that even if they know the fact of that relationship b4 the king's demise.

I stand to be corrected or enlightened..
kingship is not like an empire which is heritable by heirs. so I don't see the Prince seeing the Top guns in politics to swerve the throne in his favour and if he dares, hmmmm, I await the other clan to the throne response and actions...**courage without wisdom will only lead to doom

just negodu the rubbish you are saying, which Ooni stool is of national importance? The stool is being bastardised today that if Oduduwa wants to land again he might descend in KANO since that's where the kingmakers are.

Abi iru ki wa leleyi bayi o o Eledumare?

You people can come up with just anything to justify subservience.

Did Sanusi himself pay visit to anyone in the South West publicly like this before his selection as Emir?

Now that you have elevated the stool to 'Ooni of Nigeria' where are other princes (of the other ruling houses you mentioned) going up and down? Can we see their pictures?

When tomorrow, one historian in Bayero University comes to assert that the Ooni stool is determined by them will you come out here to dispute that?[/size]

One of the reasons why the traditional institution has been politicised is because they recieve renumeration from government. The same thing is obtainable in sports and many other areas where government shouldnt be part of. Since they pay they must approve else there will be serious consequence.

Prospective yoruba obas acknowledging their slave masters!!! It is obvious the next Ooni would be decided by the sokoto caliphate!!
Never in the history of the Yoruba race have an Oba been appointed by an outsider and Adedamola visiting all those people may be as a result of those people being friends of some of the top contestants for the Oba stool; he maybe begging them to help persuade them to step down for him. In Yoruba land only people with royal bloods are chosen to become the Oba unlike Ijaw slaves ( the Igbos )who appoint their obi's & eze based on how much dirty money they have. Smh! Yeye dey smell. : tongue

Utter tosh!

Did you actually read the junk you wrote up there? Where the hell is ya self-pride/worth? And in future someone will elect someone with no self-worth like you to lead Yoruba cos you're no different from the gang of shameless clowns and heifers running around today disgracing Yoruba folks everywhere. If you lot want to be Esau - it's a free-world. But stop rubbing that nonsense on the rest of us who understand what it means to be Yoruba and are supremely proud of the heritage.

Anyway, if you have nothing intelligent to say - just shut up. You don't have to contribute to every topic.

What is all this?

Is this the result of having a showman (Dele Momodu) as a friend?

He wasn't shown visiting them like this prior to now. Why the sudden private visits in the public space now when the kingship contest is on?

I'm not feeling this master/slave relationship that has transcended from politics to one of the premier royal stools of the Yorubas. Someone needs to rein these simple fvckers in and this weak-minded and stupid educated illiterate (who the hell made this idiot a barrister, anyway?) should never attain that throne.

These Yoruba folks are a disgrace...all they care about is the darn crumbs they want to swallow.

Politics of throne.

Talk to Sanusi to talk to his friend, el-Rufai. El-Rufai that is closer to Buhari to talk to Buhari, then Buhari to talk to Aregbe as Osun governor. Aregbe to talk to Ife kingmakers.

This was the Sanusi formula too. Got close to Tinubu, Tinubu talked to Kwankwaso and Kwankwaso chose him.
