And for those who will come at the end of the season with stats on how we scored over 100 goals, you can see that scoring 2/3/4/5 goals in one game and failing to score in games like yesterday's can make scoring over 100 goals almost useless.

Spy360:
Wenger is either economical with the truth about the situation on ground or he is economical with our finances or he is economical with his mental faculties.
Whatever he wants to do let him do, but if he does not win the league this season we will come for his head.
With all the players moving in to other rivals, we cannot compete with this our current crop. If he thinks we can, then he is just being arrogant or naive as according to G Neville.
Chelsea- Bergovic, Falcao, Pedro
City- Otamendi, Sterling, Delph
United- Romero, Darmian, Schweini, Schneidi, Depay
Arsenal- Cech
Wenger is probably looking at how well we played in the second half of last season and thinking that we don't need additional players especially with Theo available. He has already referred to Wilshere and Welbeck's return as if they will add anything to the team seeing that both will always start from the bench anyways in big games and barring injuries to starters. I think his problem is that he does not want to accept Giroud is not up to scratch if we want to win the league. He is a good striker no doubt but not one we can rely on for the whole season. In games like yesterday's, we needed a striker with a high conversion rate not one that needs 5 chances to score a goal.

Don't be too sure Man, not sure Arsene is gonna sign anyone again.
It will be sheer foolishness on his part if he dares does that. When we lost against Westham, he was asked if he would sign any more players, his response was that: we signed a player and yet we still lost.

The irony now is that the same one player we signed saved us repeatedly from an embarrassing defeat yesterday night. It will be utter foolishness if Wenger does not realize this fact and get cracking within the limited transfer days left.

Chambers desperately needed a game like last nights to boost his confidence because his lack of games was obvious as he looked jittery even with the easiest pass, we were unable to transition from defense to offense in the first half owing to errant passing from the back four and I am glad Wenger did not make a hasty decision after the first half as chambers produced a better shift in the second half, the kid needs a consistent run of games to really ascertain his potentials for the defense, truth is we are not getting any more players not for the defense I can confidently say and we can only hope the ones we have develop and mature into the games we play.

My special mentions for last night are Coquelin, Cech and Ozil, Coq was near masterclass last night as his challenges and tackles were timed to perfection but again he is paper weight and struggled tremendously against larger sized players, we desperately need reinforcement in that position, if Coq pulls a hammy where do we go?

Peter Cech, I have been one of his critics not because he has questionable skills for the goalkeeping position but because I felt Ospina did everything right to deserve the number one but last night Cech proves why he is ahead of the game, we have that department effectively covered.

Can you imagine if we had an efficient striker and Ozil behind him like last night? He was phenomenal with his passes.

We are not signing anybody, it's a shame we have to wait until next year to make decent runs and it is usually late as other teams capitalize on early performances to win the league.

Me I've been vexing since the season we let Adebayour go but I've learnt to manage my expectations after many epistles on this thread.

Those boys and their manager will still earn their keep even if they lose 10 - 0 and at the end, they will leave and go to another club. It's we the fans that suffer the heartache so we have to learn to manage our expectations of Monseur Wenger

When it comes to tactics and man management, Arsene Wenger is the best I have ever known. When he had a complete team he goes unbeaten. With nonentities he finishes 4th- he has never finished below 4th.

But that guy is wasting all his God-given talents on average materials. I wonder where he gets his joy.

When he was on a budget we could understand, but now that he is handy, it beats my imagination why he is dull on the market.

I support Neville's ascertion that it is pure arrogance. He wants to prove he can win with average players playing selense footsie.

Hope he succeeds or maybe he wants to surprise us as he did with Ozil.

Indeed any thing can happen. I remember last summer everyone thought he was going for Balotelli then suddenly Sanchez was having a medical.

Two summers ago, we thought it was Di Maria then suddenly news filtered that Ozil had already completed a medical and pictures dated two weeks before transfer window closed were released. Arsene signed Ozil weeks before the world knew.

Wenger is highly secretive of his deals. So let's wait and see what he has got in his sleeves.

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by proudlysports: 2:04pm On Aug 26, 2015
Arsene Wenger in 2009:

"I have been criticised for not hiring Xabi Alonso or Gareth Barry. But if I signed them, I would have killed Song, Diaby and Denilson,” he said.
And Wenger's strategy has also benefited young Gunners Jack Wilshire and Aaron Ramsey - with the latter having already featured nine times this season.
“I told the shareholders we have to trust this team. Everything is based on my own conviction," he said.
"If in two years I don't have any success, it will be my fault. It is a bet I made.”

You can argue with Sir Alex, but not Mourinho.

If you look at the way Wenger sets up his teams you know the guy knows tactics. I mean his teams play good football irrespective of their class or abilities.
