I have never supported lamination of certificates.

Thank God I didn't laminate my waec certificate when I collected it from school, I would ve not graduated from school.

Waec altered my result online after 5years. I got to know about it during my final year clearance. My clearance officer rejected my result that it has been tempered online.

I was directed to the head office in lagos to complain and when I got there I told them that the result on my certificate is now different from the one displaying online.

The HOD told me to bring my raw certificate. He said waec doesn't accept laminated certificate. Thank God I didn't laminate my certificate. They later confirmed the authenticity of the certificate and a green light icon on the machine confirm the certificate is genuine. The man told me, you are very lucky your certificate wasn't laminated.

That is how my result was validated online. Every since then, I don't even allow my younger ones to laminate their certificate.

Can anybody check his WAEC status online?

The only certificate I laminated is my NYSC Certificate, and that's because I saw others doing it at the POP ground.

Some embassies and schools abroad reject laminated certificates. Reason is that the rubber used to laminate prevents the machine from reading the authenticity seal on it. I was a victim. I had to go through stress and expenses to get a new waec result since the original I laminated spoilt when I was trying to remove the laminate. Pls instead of laminating it, put it in the rubber but let them just seal the tip and not the whole body. So you can take it out anytime if required..

Were you opting for under-/ Post-Graduate admission then sorry?

when applying to school abroad, they don't demand for ur certificates, but ur transcript, which is sent by your former school to them, so I don't think those that have laminated their have any issue.

I didn't mention school and transcripts. When making applications that requires you sending some documents they don't accept laminated ones. Take it from me

Some schools these days do advice students at the point of issuance, not to laminate their certificates.

I feel the paper is secured when laminated.

where persin fit see tht rubber? ...Even the laminating foil used thez dayz is so light tht some cert. do no feel d full efx of lamination...

If you have laminated it you can try to carfully remove it but it has to be sone very CLINICALLY... VERY CLINICALLY lest the certificate gets damaged. Second option is to just leave it like that..

I have been hearing here and there, the effects of laminating certificates but don't really know much about it. Please I will like people to give their opinions on the effects of laminating Certificates.

it depends on the worth of the certificate.
Lamination has its minor dangers such as burning and inability to verify (which is very rare).
However, those certificates that are issued only once it is important to laminate them for safety.
Most institutions have ways of verifying the certificate whether laminated or not.
Lamination saves your documents from wear and tear, attacks by rat and insects and destruction by water etc
the benefits outweigh the dangers.

I once heard that some certificate are heat sensitive or sometimes changes colour when you press it. Therefore, laminating such certificates may affect it and so theoretically render the certificate void, although I am not entirely sure.

Only a digital data can be termed as 'void', in the case of physical certificate, you refer it to as 'invalid'.

i dnt see any reason why u shud laminate certificates, it jus render it useless at the end of the day. when it cant pass security checks. we were warned to stay away for laminating certificates even at the POP ground. all my certs are not laminated, even my secondary sch certs, all are kept clean and safe. Please always try and keep your stuffs clean.

Please @ Eidosky please how did you get a replacement for your weac certificate i have a similar issue now please.

Yes...in fact, you are as qualified as anyone with B.Sc. I graduated with a B.Sc(Ed) Computer Science from Tai Solarin University of Education and I've worked in several ICT firms. As long as you know what you're doing, fire on.

You are right. I didn't know that until I went to laminate my daughter's birth certificate. Thank God it was a white babe and not an immigrant. She laughed and told me that she wouldn't do it. On further enquiries, she told me that as soon as I laminate it, it becomes void, as it has been altered.

You know in our usual naija way, I was like how did u know that? She said she learnt the hard way. I was so happy she didn't let me make the same mistake, as some people would easily laminate it and take the dollar and leave u to your faith. I have never been that grateful for something that small, yet so vital.

Is good laminates ur certificate to avoid drained by water or rain but op is not yet laminated.

Even my primary six certificate, I didn't laminate it... A friend of mine has learned from it in the hard way.

The hard question should be, are they jobs opening in these areas you listed? I'm sure you afraid to tell him the reality of job opening in those areas.

laminating seals do expire, and when that happens, they begin to loose grip, n at such u can't relaminate, and it might begin to go apart in different directions, with some part of ur doc. attached to opposite parts, that's d ultimate disadvantage, so it's meant for temporary documents, my view.

Thank God I've not laminated my FSLC and B.Sc. Certificates. Others(birth,NECO,NYSC exemption,B.Sc. statement of result) av bn laminated.

I av all my documents scanned and saved in mails,but pls, if I print them out,will they still carry the authenticity seal on them?

I never knew the side effect of lamination until today although my Bsc cert wasn't laminated except my WAEC and Dip cert which I carefully de- laminated yesterday.
