Dear wonderful people on Nairaland


It's rather unfortunate that i had to make use of this medium to show my displeasure on the way my network provider (MTN) has just scammed me.


I believe there are so many people who have been scammed by MTN and other network providers.


I recharged my account with N100 worth of airtime and dialed the codes *556# to check my balance and a pop-up menu came up.


On the pop-up menu, they advertised 100MB at the rate of N100 once you text "PFW" to 131.


I did just that hoping to receive the 100MB they advertised. Instead, i received this very funny message. . .


"You have successfully subscribed to the Project Fame WEEKLY bundle. Valid till 05/09/2015 21:44:36. Visit (www.projectfamewestafrica.com) to enjoy. Text PFB to 131 to check.Your online voting PIN will be sent to you shortly"


I feel very bad that a company as big as MTN would decide to scam me of my hard earned money by advertising for a service they do not provide.


I therefore call on the authorities of MTN to either:

1. return my "hard earned N100"

or

2. Credit my account with 100MB

I've not use their data service since Glo came to my rescue with 12GB for 5k. No one can beat.

I supose you ought to call their Customer care centre first to logde your complain. Perhaps there could proper remedy towards your hirate from their end.

My Broda u ar d one dat made a mistake. U saw PFW which simply mean "project fame west africa" and u know that is an mtn programme. U have only subscribed to vote for any of the contestants that's y they have giving u a voting pin, so go ahead and use ur mb wisely.
We fall victims by trying to be greedy. MTN can only give u 10MB for #100 and never a 100MB.

Don't mind mtn.... it's a way to scam unsuspecting people. Most people won't know that the 100mb is just for project fame website until after they have parted with with 100 naira. Not just that, there is always this advert on ipulse plan that if you spend 200 naira in a day, you will be given 250 mb free browsing between 1am and 5am. But for where... I don try am for more than 5 times. Mtn no give me anything. Just scaming people.

The way the message comes up any body could be tempted cos they didn't say text PFW to vote for any thing instead they said text PFW to get 100mb.
Moreover they can use any thing as subscription messages even though it's "GOAT" so don't blame the guy

This serves as a lesson to most of us...always read thoroughly before accepting an offer/plan/services so as to avoid stories that touch.

One day i was sleeping when my phone started ringing then I picked it up sub-consciously. immediately i learnt the call was from MTN, i hanged up.But to my surprise when i checked my balance all my money had gone! I called their customer care to lay my complaint only for the lady to tell me that i should not have picked the call since i didnt want my money to be deducted! I was like,what the HELL..Did i beg u people to call me? you called me to advertise your products yet i am the one to bear the cost? mehn! I was so mad at them that day!
