SCAM ALERT (Photos): Learn From My Experience With A Nairalander by Brianflair(m): 1:52pm On Aug 18, 2015
Last Sunday morning [16th of August], I woke up to a BBM request from or with the name Mark August. I rarely receive such request but I have dropped my BB PIN here before once on Nairaland back then when I was just new. It was like newbie stuff for New Nairalander to get acquitted with each other.

I accepted Mark August request and the introduction was captivating as you will read everything below. He claim an older person, divorced, a working class with blue chip firms and someone I can have as a friend and network with.

Through our chat, he demanded he want to see me physically and that’s when he dropped the bombshell.

BOMBSHELL: I’ll send you a laptop tomorrow because I have access to them (in my thought, perhaps many of them).

I even screenshot the bombshell, I don’t know want compel me to do it.

It’s just because, this is too real to believe. Is unimaginable!

The next day (Monday), I was only greeting and he typed, he is about sending it that the address I gave is unreachable. With my level of education and street wise. Above Average Nairalander are Wise and smart for things like this.

The Signs

* At inception, I never suspected the fellow or syndicate until he throws the bombshell. My mind was restless, that this can’t be through. I never believe it and decided to play along.
* What really strengthens my mind is when I check through his profile and saw Nairaland App. This just negate what we have been chatting before.
* The tone of chatting change the subsequent day. At first, it was like cool, like an elderly person chatting and the next day, it was harsh and more suspicious coupled with the findings I have made.
I want Nairalanders to learn from this because I can’t imagine the number of members they have tried to lure into their scamming net.
Sincerely, Nairaland has grown into a city like NewYork where the good, the bad and the ugly are exemplify.
* The second he used was blurry and doesn't represent the calibre of a friend i thought i chatted with on Sunday. By then, my suspicious is already growing.

I am proud and happy for you. I actually sense some fraudulent acts in this guy. The Scamming signs i stated really gave a huge doubt and strength. How can we be chatting and suddenly you said you want to see me and he was serious about it to the extent that he said he will send me a laptop just to see me. I thought this seemly old strange friend was joking till he requested for my contacts again. I taught Awoof.

I'm glad you didn't fall to his prey and that's what i am preventing.

I really took my time to publish this to save others. Hope Nairaland chiefs can help broadcast it to reach many people as well.

Thanks for your contribution.

Is high time Nairaland take issues like this serious. I hope they are doing something to prevent scammers and stalkers like this, even though everybody is liable for their own risk endeavour on this platform.

I already discover the dude was a scamming mess. I just pretended and follow-up. If you psychologically feel my Monday chat, you'll know how firm i was. I was already seeing the future, having a clue to the result. Besides, i never initiated conversation about the parcel. He did.
I've learn a few things about the chat though.

Same Mark August send a friend request to me. The very moment he started chatting I knew that he was a scammer. I went online and straight to google and typed 'Mark August Scam' and this story popped up. I deliberately asked for his number and he sent +447042064241. I called him to advise him to stop the scamming business and accept Jesus christ. The more he was trying to convince me that he is not a scammer, the more he is sounding like a confirmed scammer. I asked whether he knows 'Atlantic Express' that was when he cut the call and deleted me from bbm. Guys don't fall prey to this scam. His pin is 335D1648.
