it is good you are trying to upgrade yourself. Permit me to ask, is it teaching what you want do or your passion? NTI would be good because it does not involve attending lectures. NTI is your best bet #my opinion.

TODAY On FRANKLY SPEAK ING by Muyiwa Afolabi
- THE ASSUMPTION THINKING
We all want to be comfortable. We want a comfortable ifestyle; that life that would give us
the peace that comes with meeting obligations,
responsibilities, fitting in and self- preservation and
personal pride. We just want to make sure were socially and economically okay.
We work so very hard, search for new things, seek fresh opportunities and try to put in our efforts in ensuring we are…okay.
A good, enjoyable, peaceful life is not an illusion. Happiness is for real, joy is for real, peace is for real, fulfilment is for real; these are not things that are impossible, these are not experiences that are mere
imaginations, some people are actually happy, contented, comfortable and fulfilled.
Please understand me; a happy life is different from happiness as in emotional state. You can have a very happy life but still occasionally feel bad and unhappy on the account of events that occur in and
around you that make you feel bad.
You can have a very happy life and occasionally your husband or wife or friend or boss or colleague would do something that'll make you unhappy, it does not mean you don't have a happy life, you still have a happy life you're just momentarily upset on the account of an issue.
A happy life is the pleasantness of your journey through life. It is the totality of how far you have come; where you're at and where you're headed. If your life thus far is something you can smile about and be happy about and the future looks promising
and fulfilling then you have a happy life.
On the contrary if you look over your life, your choices and decisions; where you're at right now and the future makes you afraid and insecure then you probably don't enjoy a happy life.
A happy life is beyond temporary upsets and unpleasant occurrences; as even when an
individual is struggling and unhappy in life, there are still moments of happiness anyway.
A happy life is a great life, a life of success according to your own unique and personal definition of success.
Is your life today in alignment with your personal definition of success? Would you be saying your dreams and expectations thus far has been your experience? Are you living a life different from what you really want? Is there a difference between your
dreams and your reality? Why is it taking so long to marry your reality and your dreams? At what point
would your dreams become your reality?
For how long would your dreams and your reality exist as two parallel lines?
For how long would you keep observing others doing what you can only wish; other people like you achieving your wishes, experiencing your wishes and enjoying what only exists in your own dream land?
If it's possible for others, why does it appear impossible for you? Don't you suppose it's time to sit back and think about finding real solutions and answers? If many theories you've heard, read and assumed aren't working as expected don't you
suppose it's time to try something entirely new? Or you're only hoping and assuming things would fall in place one day? Hmmm.
One of my colleagues began to share a business idea with me; for him it was novel and interesting, and appeared smart; it looked really good on paper and he was convinced many people would buy into it. I asked him a pertinent question, if we invest so much in funds and man hours into the idea how much minimum returns are we looking at and when are we likely to deliver certain revenue in returns? He smiled and gave a common response; well he hoped people would like it and patronize and if they do; mark the words, if, then we should be able to deliver so so amount in numbers. I smiled; he was missing something crucial in today's business environment; the terrace is too treacherous to invest money and man hours in an ‘if’ situation. Assumption is a great killer in today's business.
The excitement, speed, dynamism and operations in today's business world has become a situation of ‘get it right the first time’ If you want to stay ahead and enjoy

Re:Feedback from Laureates College It was a very wonderful experience most especially to be privileged to attend. Nothing different from what my fellow Nairalander have just shared above. The Interview were in two stages: Written and Oral. At the point of arrival each Applicant were given Attendance sheet to register their names and in between thi time the Principal of the School emphasised that each Applicant should register only their Subject Area(I.e:Specialised(Relevant teaching Subject relating to their discipline). Soon after this,we were randomly grouped to different classes to write the Test. Just immediately after the Test we were refreshed with a Can Malta Guiness to douse our tension of which I never expected this from the School Management. This is amazing! Many thanks to them anyway for their Hospitality and nice treat. Mention would not be made without the School Principal humble gesture. He is so down to heart and friendly too. The high point of todays interview Session was that it was based on the premise of equity and fairness without any biased or prejudice(s). On getting to the Oral interview proper different Applicants were being asked different questions in different style .The lesson I learnt in todays Interview was that of CSR Question that I was asked to answer in the Questionare given to us at the early stage of the Interview which taint and sharpened my knowledge that a School is also a part of the Larger Society benefitting from them and they must be ready to give back to this Society in returns as well in order to make the World a better place for all and Sundry to live in. I have no doubt that this School had involved in Community Social Responsibility Services.Honestly, this is going to be the very first School that I would ever had of such. In conclusion, the Principal painstakingly responded to me that they will get back on/by Friday. Many thanks to OP of this thread, you have been so 'toodaful'.Also my greatest appreciation to: Golden Dr.Laurel P,Profsday,Givemejoy,..et al of this outstanding page. On this note I wish you all and other Nairalanders Happy and Prosperous New Year in Advance!

Most case,I advice a small introduction with the students that would consume 15minute of your time. Give them your real name, an educative nickname with a short story behind the nickname. Then, give general overview of all the topics you will be taking for the term or semester. This would make the student fall in love with you. forget who is there to supervise. Such person would also fall in love. Stick to macJC rules. Be real, firm(not soft and not hard), take control and try to memorize the leading students name and attitude. You can also ask questions that would gear up their previous knowledge.

goodluck
thanks

Nice one really paid off......if you know the class you will teach on that day I will advice you study all the topics very well afterall you will be given a day to prepare, put on good looking clothes and dress official, be audible, maintain eye contacts, ask questions in between your lesson, allow the students to ask questions, move around the classroom, don't write on the board and talk at the same time, smile, speak slowly and steadily, write date subject and topic on the board, be prepared to write a lesson plan/note which ever case may be. For a middle class area and with over 1k students don't go below 50k (I hope not having secondary school teaching experience will not lower the asking salary) all the best
thanks!

still loading.....59%....73%...100% complete.

My first teaching job was early in the millenium where i was paid about –N-4000 :00 but excuding lesson n some other benefits adding all it should sum up to about –N-7000 :00 or thereabout. Although before then I had private lessons I take which doesn’t pay much but then I was still under mum’s roof and I haven’t even attended university by then.
My real hustle started immediately after I graduated. I came out with all the motivation that follows most corpers /students after graduation with all the “I cant take any job below 50k and all…” but reality is a lot worse than school lecturers or teachers.. It sets exams immediately, long before lectures. Anyway !I came out and started hustling aiming for schools on the island ..i trekked round the island dropping cv in different schools and not one single invite did I get.(probably my cv was too weak)..
Anyway I kept moving and kept submitting then one day within my hood ,I got a part-time job which paid about 10k or so. While there, I still do phone configurations for extra cash.
Later on I got home lesson teaching two kids in pry three times a week for 25k and I added that to my 10k part-time since the phone thing was once in a while. I still had the eyes on schools on the island but I was adviced by a man (much like the one sunnypar posted). He said if u get schools on the island and say u get ur 50k or 60k.. you have to worry about distance .when are u gonna wake up and when would you get back. Feeding and traffic stress too.etc.. if u add all that u find out u may land back to 30k or thereabout. He adviced I look for a school close to my area that would pay me 30k with peace of mind and start off from there. I took his advice and got a school around my area that paid me 25k. In the school ,I taught geography and I was the school coach. Later I was also given PHE and agric added to the geography. Pay was still 25k. Long story short, I left that school and got another where I was housemaster as well as geography and PHE teacher for about 30k.
Unfortunately this one pays on the “49th” day of the month and sometimes owe two months while the proprietress travels round the globe. London today, dubai tomorrow. And we were only paid when she returns. I left there to another school where I earned about 40k.i was housemaster as well as a teacher. It was rosy at first but later the principal was changed,,(I like to call it a coup cos every teacher then knew it) .The new principal was hell .he had absolutely no idea in running a hostel and brought terrible as well as stupid rules and regulations that never worked but create problems .he started treating teachers terribly and one by one ,teachers left. (I inclusive) but from there I did some thinking (thank God for the friends around me then) .i didn’t study education ,I don’t have any pgde in edu but well I was adviced to go for big schools. I googled up top schools in Nigeria, retailored my cv and posted to many and that was how I got invited to regent school Abuja.
Sorry I left out some other details that are trival (bellina, day watterman, good shepherd etc..) but I bliv these details I posted would still help someone. I then met a former university departmental friend whom works in jumia . we talked and I was shocked he could sling up a job in such a place(jumia) ,he on d other hand was wondering how I was even able to work in a sch without edu degree. Anyway there I did a rethink and that was when I strated looking for jobs outside teaching . Today I work in a multinational ICT company with really good pay ,health insurance for self or with family ,pension, housing allowance ,transport allowance, feeding allowance etc..
Moral I started from as low as 4k and now …well now >>GOD-WIN>>>… do not limit urself. Believe and work towards it and you would get to places ..i got to international schools without having any degree in education and you can too. Start small build your confidence with experience by taking up the small ones around. When you are ready ,re-work ur cv and start applying. Don’t forget prayer o! .I did a lotta that.
