It is not only BIU that was reinstated by this administration even the soldiers that were dismissed because of cowardice or leaking information on the movement of the troop to Boko Haram have all been reinstated. It is indeed very sad.

Guess my opinion was subtle enough. It is weakness to throw a jab at someone who has not directly provoked such.

To the subject, i agree with you that public perception may cite "insensitivity" in the reinstatement. However, if you read beyond the headlines, you will notice that there was a statutory panel of enquiry saddled with the responsibility of probing the sack. They found the accused not guilty. By law, will it be apt for the accused to remain accursed after being found innocent? If truly he had a hand in the atrocities, he would someday pay accordingly.

Buhari obviously had no influence in this. If he made any efforts to interfere with the PSC's decision he would be termed a dictator by the opposition.

First and foremost everyone seems to be missing the point Kabiru Sokoto should have been executed for his crimes and why this never happened reflects the overall dysfunctional state of the justice code and system.
Secondly Mr Biu was re-instated by the police commission board, this board was constituted by the ex-PDP government no new members have either been appointed nor have any old members of the board been retired by the new APC government, basically what I am saying is President Buhari has nothing to do with this decision so all those wailing PDP wailers this is the soup which you people cooked for Nigeria pls shut up and eat it !!!.
Personally I pray President Buhari revisits the police force and weeds out its top hierarchy.

Until I read PDP's apology, i also felt something was wrong with the decision. My emotions were premised on the headlines.

The prompt pardon of political ex-convicts differs completely. If Biu had been convicted earlier and the President grants a pardon then he would have been said to have committed an act if folly. My 2 cents though.


Nb:

My mum was once wrongly accused 24 years ago. She just did not come home. She was apparently locked up for 2 weeks or more due to a fraud perpetrated by someone in her department. The trial started and lasted for four years before she was found not guilty and thereafter reinstated. It was a harrowing experience. Loads of her colleagues were quick to judge her at the time the trial was on!

You are right and I guess the jab is unnecessary but the president need to balance the mood of the nation with whatever decision he's going to make......even if the guy is found not guilty, this is not the time to make such a pardon...it seems Buhari is so insensitive to the feelings of other ethnicity. .for crying out loud, Nigeria is a diverse and very volatile country. I think there are more pressing and important issue at stake.

It is acceptable practice all over the world for the president to quietly intervene in a sensitive issue like this one.
