A Christian man who chaired a wedding I attended today boldly introduced his two wives before saying the opening prayer. Both wives stood up and waved to everyone with no evidence of shame visible. On further investigation, I was told they are active Christians. This cannot happen in a Catholic church, as you cannot openly be claiming two wives and still be a Catholic. Why are some churches allowing this? |

Pidggin:Good question. The Mormons have been known to practice polygamy. I guess some other churches might also practice it. |
| Re: Christian Infidelity by Pidggin(op): 12:09am On Sep 09, 2015 |
AtheistD:I am very sure this man is not a Mormon. It seems like some churches are allowing this to keep members attending for financial reasons, as the man in question is a wealthy man. I wonder how far from the principles of the gospel some churches are willing to go in order to keep members warming their pews. |

I mean.... polygamy is different from infidelity. Yeah it is infidelity, cause ur sleeping wit someone thats not ur spouse, but it's still different than like being a cheater. What is more disturbing, IMO is the real infidelity.... and the boldness and shamelessness with which they do it. |

| Re: Christian Infidelity by Nobody: 3:23am On Sep 09, 2015 |
MrsPhyno:The questions are - How many wife/ves has David - Will he go to hell? -How many wife/ves has Solomon- Will he go to hell? - How many verses of the Holy bible has it that Jesus said - Don't marry more than one wife - Was it even in the 10 commandments that don't marry more than one? Or is their an 11th law we don't know of ? ![]() - If this polygamy ish were a sin so grave as being painted , why didn't God the mighty but loving categorically advise or admonish us not to get close ? - if polygamy and infidelity answers the same questions why are there two words? ![]() Polygamy indeed solves the problem af the man being unnecessarily promiscuous to be sincere cos he already has the varieties... ![]() So, polygamy is not infidelity abeg ! ![]() |

Sabrwahaqqo:The status or institution of simultaneous marriage of more than one woman to one man, or of several women to several men. The two forms are polygyny and polyandry. In ordinary use, the term is restricted to polygyny, i.e., where one man is simultaneously married to more than one woman. Polygamy as polygyny is contrary to divine positive law governing the marriage union (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31). According to the natural law, even successive polygamy (as in societies that legalize marriage after divorce) hinders the proper care and education of children. And it places an intolerable burden on practicing mutual love between the spouses. In the Old Testament, God tolerated polygamy for a certain time, as it appears from the examples of men such as Abraham, Jacob, and David. But with the proclamation of the New Law, this concession, almost wrested from by God by reason of the moral obtuseness of man, was revoked. Marriage was restored to its original unity. The language of Christ is very explicit (Matthew 19:3-9; Mark 10:1-12; Luke 16:18). Catholic tradition has consistently interpreted Christ's teaching as absolutely forbidding polygamy, and the prohibition was defined by the Council of Trent, pronouncing anathema against anyone who says that "it is lawful for Christians to have several wives at the same time, and that it is not forbidden by any divine law" |

Pidggin:What if the man married the two women before becoming a Christian? Biblically, the only thing he cannot do or become in the Church is a Pastor, Bishop, Apostle, Prophet etc... 1 Timothy 3:2-12. I think all followers of Jesus Christ should judge all things by the standard of the word of God and not Church doctrines! The Bible also says we should flee fornication; are youths of today practising that? Now, which is worst? A polygamous man who is legally married to his wives or a youth who fornicates serially difiling himself/herself and mocking the word of God? ^^^ 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. I tell you, that polygamous man will make it into the Kingdom of God but no serial fornicator would be allowed ![]() ^^^ Revelation 21:8 But to the cowardly and unbelieving and having become abominable and murderers and the sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their portion is in the lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." |

DoubleDeeX:How did Peter, James, John and Paul judge? With the bible or with Church doctrine? |
| Re: Christian Infidelity by Nobody: 9:03am On Sep 10, 2015 |
italo:They judged by the word of God which mostly was revealed to them by the inspiration of the holy spirit; most of the mysteries of the OT were revealed to them as well, which was why they wrote epistles to teach and exhort the Churches they started in various places. Their epistles were then compiled with the word of Jesus Christ and that of the Prophets of old and it became the Bible! You ever wondered why that was done? It was done to avoid contradiction in teachings and doctrines in the future which God Himself knew Satan would hijack the Church and turn it into his Synagogue. So if any Church claims to be the Church of God, it shouldn't teach anything contrary to what the Apostles wrote in their epistles. Because no "denominational Church" is above the word of God. The entire Household of God is built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets of old with Jesus Christ as the Chief cornerstone! Ephesians 2:19-20 Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens of the saints and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. Timothy 3:15 But if I should delay, so that you may know how it behooves one to conduct oneself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth Like I said on the other thread, don't like running in circles; I believe in personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and that I have found already....I know the truth and I'm free and confident of the path I'm following. So I'm not here to win an argument but to pass a message of truth to other viewers who are willing to learn! Whatever works for you Mr. Italo; afterall salvation is a personal thing. I pray you make the rapture. Shalom |

DoubleDeeX:Lies! In Acts 15, the Apostles judged by Church doctrine, not the bible. It was Peter that proclaimed the doctrine. |
| Re: Christian Infidelity by Nobody: 9:57am On Sep 10, 2015 |
italo:Where are the lies in what I wrote? And what Church doctrine are you talking about here? You mean the Roman Catholic Church doctrines? Which one specifically? Okay, so your Roman Catholic Church doctrines that are not written in the Bible are now above the Bible abi? Things like infant baptism, sprinkling of water etc? Smh ; D okay oh! I'm done here... May we all be found in the truth when Jesus Christ appears!.... BTW the topic is talking about infidelity which was why I related it to the fornication youths of today practice... |

| Re: Christian Infidelity by Nobody: 10:21am On Sep 10, 2015 |
italo:Lol even when the answer is clearly written in the scripture? Which will mean the Bible is useless abi? I'll make no such mistake....The Church as written in the Bible is not any building anywhere but the gathering of the elects and saints of God... Jesus knows his own and when the time comes, he will separate the wheat from the chaff; so living by the written words of the early Apostles, Prophets of old and that of Jesus Christ which is the foundation of which the Church was built is enough for me! No wahala italo! enjoy your Church doctrines....I'm okay with the Bible standard and ancient letters of the Apostles. |
| Re: Christian Infidelity by italo: 10:36am On Sep 10, 2015 |
DoubleDeeX:Dubious deviation from the issue by talking about building which no one mentioned. The early christians went to the Church leaders for judgement...not the bible. It's clear from Acts 15. Or is Acts 15 my church doctrine? Do you know better than Paul and Barnabas who went to the Church leaders for judgement? |

DoubleDeeX:@bolded, what do you mean by that statement? Which part of the New testament did Jesus justify polygamy? Mark 10:6-8:"But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh not three but three |

MrsPhyno:You agree it's infidelity then you say it's different, sister am curious, please explain further |
| Re: Christian Infidelity by Nobody: 12:13pm On Sep 10, 2015 |
Pidggin:You missed the point I was trying to make Sister. I never said a follower of Christ is allowed to practice polygamy. The blood of Jesus Christ justifies all who repent of their sins and give their lives to Jesus Christ. I pointed out clearly in my previous post that if any man gets into polygamy before giving his life to Christ, he would be justify; however he must not put away any of his wives as the NT doesn't allow divorce. On the other hand, if a fornicator who is a believer dies in his/her sin he/she wouldn't be allowed into the Kingdom according to Revelation 21:8. |

| Re: Christian Infidelity by Nobody: 2:51pm On Sep 10, 2015 |
Pidggin:Lol sorry o. Okay let me clarify myself. It's not infidelity, in the strictest sense. Infidelity meaning 'cheating on your marriage partner with another person'. Cause you married the two and they were both aware of it (the second & first wife) so it's not infidelity. It is however, adultery according to the Bible (I hope? I'm correct) cause the only 'biblically' recognized wife is the first one. So it's a sin yes and it is wrong yes but it is technically not infidelity. If a guy is sleeping with his first and second wives then he's actually being faithful to both of them Useless tradition sha |
