The car is Highlander jeep. According to an eyewitness, the Jeep was bringing out fire from the silencer and the driver was asked to park. Immediately he got out of the car, the fire became much.

Unfortunately, the fire service came very late and couldn't save the car.

It happened around 3:00 this afternoon

Sometimes to put off a car fire like this, you need to get to the source/root of the fire with good pressure. That the fire was coming out from the exhaust doesn't mean that's where the problem lies.

That small fire extinguisher in our car at times, would just be like air freshener where the fire is.

People also prefer to run, before the fire would reach the fuel tank and story would change.
We should be asking if the car is insured.

The scenes you see in movies do not readily occur in real life scenarios..... A car will explode....if has explosive or highly combustible materials inside it such a bomb, cooking gas cylinder, etc....
Blame the car owner....I wonder why folks would spend hundreds of thousands of naira to buy a car.....and then would find it difficult procuring a minimum 6Kg or 9Kg size Fire extinguisher, sold for about #9000-#12000 in their car to ward the kind of fire that engulfed and turned this car to a 'beetle'....
You'll rather find them carrying (if and when they they do) a shelltox size 1Kg or 2Kg size bicycle Fire fighting extinguishers, sold for about #800-#1000 in their cars...which can not starve off these fires when they occur..
