Job Title: Head of Sports
Reports to: Head of School across the two campuses
Status: Permanent
Supervises: All Physical Education teachers and coaches at Lekki and Anthony Campuses

Job Summary
Coordinate and manage all sport-related functions for the school, including planning, organizing, and managing the employees and coaches within the Physical Education Department.

• Develop and implement all sporting programs; direct and coordinate a full range of sports related programs
• Encourage and organise activities and events associated with the subject e.g. Classes, sport clinics, inter house sports day activities, friendly games, organise pupil participation in internal and external events and competitions, Kanu football camp etc
• organise all matches, tournaments, tours and visits to other events in accordance with the school's policy for offsite trips
• To lead the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching strategies in the department, within the designated area
• to organise Sports Days, House Matches, inter-form matches and any other appropriate event(s)
• to encourage students to develop a sense of team spirit with emphasis on cooperation and commitment to teams, one another and the school
• Provides leadership and coordination for planning, implementation, and assessment of academic initiatives related to improvements in Health & Physical Education
• Provides coordination and leadership in the development of a comprehensive health & physical education curriculum
• Develops essential standards, objectives, and assessment for health & physical education curriculum
• Coordinates the selection of instructional materials, supplies, textbooks, technology, and equipment needed to support the implementation of the health & physical education curriculum
• Develops and manages an annual budget relating to the comprehensive health & physical education program
• Assists in the planning and development of school-wide instructional staff development program for teachers, assistants, and parent volunteers to assist in raising the level of student achievement in health and physical education

Additional Responsibilities
• Assists principals in hiring qualified health & physical education teachers
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and Head of School

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Health & Physical Education required
Experience: Minimum 5 years supervisory experience and 3 additional years of classroom teaching experience required

Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnel
Good decision-making, analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to develop implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives
Working knowledge of standards-based instruction and assessment
Ability to identify and articulate best practices in curriculum and instruction
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
