I won't say much but a visit to the Garden city from the Aba axis will leave your mouth wide open, your car shutting down once you behold the depth of the ditch plus the number of cars littered on the muddy waters.

It's bad. Even the almighty Hilux failed here. Leaving Port to site was through Nowa and areas I've not dreamt of just to get to Owaza. God help us.

I stayed in Aba during my early years. You need to see places like Ariaria, Urata, and others I can't remember, when it rains. Just forget about your class and all and roll those trousers cos dat's d only route to where you are going to

Apart from corruption,incompetence and greed I believe there has to be some sort of review of how road construction is supposed to be done in these parts of the country..the soil texture and drainage system has to be thoroughly scrutinized otherwise building rds in these rainforest region will always be seen as substandard

Roads don't last here because of many factors but the most obvious is lack of maintenance. If potholes are filled up and paved at very early stage, the cost won't surpass 10, 000 Naira.

The federal government is so mean to the South East and South South. It takes an average of 2 hours to drive from Okigwe to Umuahia, a 20minutes distance when the road was good. Going to Portharcourt from Aba is a herculean task now but it was a 30 minutes trip when the road was good.

Umuahia to Uyo via Ikot Ekpene used to be covered in 45minutes, now its 3 hours. Going to Enugu from Umuahia is 3 gruesome hours. Aba to Uyo is not thinkable.

I do not blame those crying for Biafra though i am not a part of them. The South East of Nigeria is under subjugation. All the routes from Nsukka through Benue to Abuja and Kaduna become smooth as silk once one enters Otukpa, right inside thesame country called Nigeria..

God is watching. There is never a contract to rehabilitate South East roads that gets completed. One will be seeing useless contractors like SETRACO and ARAB CONTRACTORS. They will spend 10 months on a 2 kilometer section. One keeps asking, when they will complete the project. But move to Kaduna and Abuja, you start seeing JULIUS BERGER, DANTATA AND SAWOE, CCC.

So you people wanna tell me the only motorable road in the SE is the Onitsha-Owerri road built by Obasanjo/Yaradua?

I left for a location I usually tour like thrice in a day by 7am but I got to my destination at past two barely 20mins before.

Sadly but that's the truth. Umuapu axis is a no go area, Enugu - Osha is a death trap but for the old road. The SE is totally cut off. Let them barricade the Niger bridge to complete the cycle.

My dear forget these silly wailers trying to heap the blame on PMB when we all know that those roads had only gone worse during the last 6 years.
Just check out the road from Ahoada to Mbiama in Rivers and Mbiama to Yenogoa, you'd weep. Thank God for OBJ, at least we can boast of Onitsha-Owerri express.

It is sad we get so high on political affiliations that many ignore the staring realities, whichever political divide we find ourselves, we all ply the same bad roads bearing the consequences of incompetency and God forbids that it leads to accidents, untimely death knows no Pro-APC nor Pro-PDP. Rather than people close marking their State Governors and local government chairmen, they prefer being busy blowing hot air online!
