Thanks to erosion and small land mass that y south east happens to be more densely populated than any other region.no any other factor

vicadex07:
POPULATION DENSITY DOES NOT MEAN YOURE HIGH IN POPULATION. IT SIMPLY MEANS THAT YOU HAVE LESS LAND IN RELATION TO YOUR POPULATION FIGURE grin

IN TERMS OF LANDMASS, THE WHOLE OF SOUTH EAST COMBINED IS NOT UP TO OYO STATE ALONE IN THE SOUTHWEST....GO FIGURE wink
higher population density means more population per square area of land. south east is the size of oyo but have a population probably 3 times that of oyo (4get naija census) plus everybody living outside SE has a decent house back home, so u cant judge the number of houses by landmass alone, dats my point

IGBOS DEFINITELY HAVE POPULATION DENSITY. IT IS A SIGN OF POVERTY AND BACKWARDNESS.

LET ME EXPLAIN IT TO YOU WITH AN ILLUSTRATION.

IMAGINE ABOUT 20 GUYS LIVING IN A SMALL ROOM NOT BIG ENOUGH TO BE CALLED A TOILET -- NOW THAT'S POPULATION DENSITY(IGBOLAND)

NOW IMAGINE 100 GUYS LIVING ON A COMPLEX THAT IS AS LARGE AS A STADIUM -- NOW THAT IS HIGH POPULATION WITHOUT DENSITY(YORUBALAND)

AND THIS MY FRIEND IS THE REASON WHY IGBOS KEEP TROOPING IN TO THE SOUTHWEST IN MILLIONS, YET WE STILL HAVE MORE SPACE.

CONSIDER THE FACT THAT OYO STATE ALONE IS LARGER THAN THE WHOLE OF ALL SOUTH EASTERN STATES COMBINED

vicadex07:
Lol....that's virtually impossible.

Oyo state land mass alone - 28,454 km2

Abia state land mass - 6,320 km2
Anambra state land mass - 4,844 km2
Enugu state land mass - 7,161 km2
Ebonyi state land mass - 5,533 km2
Imo state land mass - 5,530 km2

All the Total Land area of South Eastern States barely measure up to Oyo state alone, so tell me, were those buildings built in the air or on water.

Hence this:

Match all the modern houses in the biggest city in all geopolitical zones across the country with those in Ibadan, when the houses in those cities finish, the remaining modern houses in Ibadan WILL still be more than those in the next two biggest cities. Fact!
this flawed analysis of number of modern houses in terms of land mass was what brought about my argument about population density. if consider population density as clearly shown in this map u will see that this peson is wrong. again, he is considering biggest cities alone, rural areas has more mansion in the east the east

I went through this thread from the beginning to the end, truth be told there is serious problem in Ibadan, most houses are not painted poverty rate in Ibadan is alarming more than Alaigbo, the reason why is what we should look for, trying to compare a land mass of one state with same land mass of five states is truly unfair, Igbos have really developed their cities more than other part of Nigeria, the only simply way they did it is because of their discipline and the art of commerce, Ibadan is past glory truth must be said, BTW am Yoruba and have being to all the six states in yoruba land plus Ilorin, i know what am talking about, we need to change our orientation, i think I will advise governor Ajimobi to build a paint factory and subsidise the cost and make people to please paint their house because of aesthetics, and a strict enforcement of orderliness in the city,it reminds me of shitta and other low cost estate in Lagos, they were an eye sore not until.Fashola paint them and everywhere looked better, Ibadan can be revived, the state it is now is pretty bad,the Government should rev up taxation and start construction in various part of the state using strictly local contractors not people from Lagos, the economy will boom, most of those houses were built during the cocoa boom of the 50s.igbos are the major importers into Nigeria so the money is with them,if you can't beat them, lets join them.
