Well, a good manager always does risks assessment before embarking on anything. He would've forseen all this and puts some things in place if he did the right things. Aregbesola was busy fumblimg about his capital projects while his maids and appointess siphon the funds. He didn't manage the resources well at all when things were going smoothly, he spends unnecessarily, he appointed more than he could afford to pay.
U talked about breathtaking projects, can you point to one completed one outta them?
His predecessor, Gov.Akande built the current secretariat that's one of the best in Nigeria and the west By-Pass road without collecting loans, are those not big projects?
His intentions were genuine but he should have done things like an educated man.

While i may be inclined to agree that the bailout was specifically meant to offset salary arrears and all that, I do not agree that all governors put themselves in the message , Initially Jonathan deliberately took 35% off Osun's allocation for talking back during a campaign

Then it was the fall in global oil price , Osun's allocation is now 35% of what it used to have

Aregbesola embarked on breathtaking projects in Osun, and the evidence is out there , every town, state , in Osun had a facelift , and upgrade

While that may be unwise i think his intentions were genuine and he wouldn't have had problems if not for the two main factors listed above

Bottom line is , in times of excess he worked (Projects) He paid (13 months) he fed, (School Children) and they applauded , now that things are hard, they should be reasonable

Yet Governor Wike of Rivers State who has not received a dime has paid all outstanding salaries to workers and pensioners. He even paid fees of students studying abroad who were stranded for two years

The governor's had better not tamper with those funds or deploy them to purposes for which they weren't meant. What manner of greed is this??

Those monies were given primarily for the purpose of offsetting owed salaries and allowances of civil servants and shouldn't be used for anything else or hoarded to generate interest for anyone.

I wish the FG had gone about this in such a manner the monies would be disbursed directly to the intended beneficiaries by the CBN through the various DMBs- but of course if that had been suggested, these insatiable an greedy politicians would turn it down because that would mean limited access to the booty.
yea...better direct payment through the banks....i dont trust governors a tall...with 5 cars,5 wifes....and rollex.... angry angry angry angry

Is there any reason for bail out in the first place. What happens is that all the previous administrators were corrupt. Why is it that it is after election they all see reason for bailout. As if it us their right in their right

[quote author=omenka post=37935957]Though the poster you quoted ALWAYS goes off key when he talks, I think Aregbe's case is particularly annoying. Why can't he immediately proceed to disburse the funds soon as he got hold of it?? Why the delay?? Who's pocket would the interest go into?? And his talk about paying half salaries is just totally unacceptable.

What Aregbe is doing is condemnable on several levels.[/quote

GEJ took 35% from Osun and their Gov didn't go to court like Tinubu did against Obj?? Do u know that revenue sharing is a constitutional requirement that must be agreed and met by FG and states?? Pls stop spreading ignorance!!

Take it easy bro, thats the truth. Aks employed about 60 doctors, over 500 nurses (after about 10 years of no employment), more than 2,000 civil servants yet no payment. Some have worked for more than 10 months.
Also, about 5,000 teachers got employed(about 5 months ago) their own case is different since they yet to commence work.
Kudos for the employment but a labourer deserves to be paid.
Cheers.

grin let the looting competition begin. The havoc these state governors will cause during buhari tenure will be a childs play to that which they wrecked during gej tenure, and unfortunately Baba go slow cannot stop them.

Going by all your comments about aregbesola since, it is evident your are one of the agents of darkness supporting the Fool.
The elementary school feeding you talked about supersedes Aregbesola govt. It was started by the Oyinlola led PDP govt.
On the issue of Thirteenth month salary, he did that just to deceive the workers in order to get their votes and support for his reelection. He only paid them half salary for that Thirteenth month salary he was shouting all around for. Please join reasonable majority to condemn the Thief and stop defending mediocrity.

Can't hide my shame for these erring Governors, putting the state in a position where it needs to lend up to N34b & N50b, Osun & Kogi resp. It's absolutely criminal. Unborn children would have to be in debt for next 20yrs with the 240 months period to service the loans.

This is one of the genuine reason why I think Buhari might be a no nonsense, corruption free man but does he have what it takes to lead? ...the bailout should have come with a strong conditions under direct supervision of the federal ministry of finance and should have come in parts.....the same condition given to Greece by the EU..but the main reason for the loan is to pay back all the money spent on Buhari for the election

In saner climes, governors that can't meet their responsibilities would have resigned. It means u are incapacitated and being incapacitated means a lot. It's not when someone has deteriorating health that he becomes incapacitated. Money came, yet they want to play pranks. Anyway, NLC should lock down those erring states in totality, this nonsense and absolute negligence of workers' plights need be checkmated.

If buhari is serious about corruption, this should be the angle he tackles fervently not going witch-hunting GEJ and his cabinet.

Imagine Rochas. APC governor who supported buhari's campaign all through the way owing health workers over 7 months of salary and threatening to sack them if they don't continue working.

What impunity and wickedness is that?

It will never be well with him, his lineage and anyone who under party loyalties can't see the lopsidedness and evil being given a free hand because they believe the president is from their party.

How many of them are owing workers and even with the bailout money (free money they didn't earn) they still refuse to pay. Yet they are walking around freely and chanting change.

Tufiakwa umu ekwensu.
