A good move. I pity many banks like zenith. They depend largely on stolen money and govt cash. It's time to downsize. I dey laugh ooooooooo

As all the long looted funds are now returning home, the presidency should also act fast as it promised to establish a special corruption court not forgetting our judicial system also needs an heavy purge.

This serious ooo. Imagine the banks leaving fat under the guise of our common wealth. Time will tell! !!
who told you the banks are living fat on those monies? If you don't know it us because of those monies that many banks are still existing what this news is telling you is that expect the greatest job cuts and sacks in the banking industry.by the time those monies are withdrawn most of your friends who are bankers will be sacked and thrown into the unemployment market. Instead of government doing this in a single swoop, this policy should have been implemented in stages. Only the top 5 banks will be safe to bank with by November

Good move.... hope it works and d nxt govt adopts it too

People are going to lose their jobs.

A lot of people.

Without this money a lot of banks wont be able to hold up and the easiest thing would be to shed staff.

Then a lot of money available for loans will be unavailable leading to...well im sure youre able to comprehend to that extent.

I hope you have nobody depending on this economy?

Maybe the banks will start giving smes loans with favourable interest rates.
there will be no loans to give. This is a good move for the government in order to curb corruption within govt parastatals but the implementation is wrong. Only the top 5 banks in Nigeria can operate optimally without these accounts and give loans the rest cant

some banks depend heavily on public funds....loosing such funds myt lead to reduction in revenues generated thus a need to downsize labour

so in the short run, life myt be hard. But all is for national interest and more efficient utilisation of government funds which will foster development in d long run.

PLEASE WHERE WOULD THEY TAKE THE MONEY TO
WHERE WOULD THE MONEY BE SAVED?
WOULD THEY GIVE IT TO ONE BANK? Or open a special Bank for Government funds?

I honor your wisdom sir! In fact i am amazed at your level of intellect. Thank you for being able to think the way you do and for this i pray God continues to increase you in more ways than you expect.

I really dont know how some foolish wastes of space come out shouting in support of this. It completely baffles me.
Now you see why they say Nigerian graduates are unemployable? If you ask them now theyll say they are graduates, well when most of their lecturers sef the books the use are from shortly after the end of the second world war which they convert to hand outs to make ends meet for themselves.

the whole funds will be moved to CBN....then cbn will create sub accounts, all payments from public funds will be initiated thru CBN and no longer thru commercial banks.

How many times will you be told to get a seasoned economic team.
What do you think will happen to the banking sector if you pull out 2.6 trillion.

bros forget Nigerian graduates 90% of them don't even know the meaning of the course they studied. But back to this issue ,I have been telling ppl that next year will be the toughest for Nigeria economically. I expect most state government to start issuing out sack letters as soon as they finish paying the backlog of salaries, many companies are going under, the suffering ppl will witness in Nigeria next year will be serious if buhari and his economic team keeps bringing out policies like this

Honestly, Nigeria has no idea of how blessed it is.

Yes seriously, go and read about William Pitt the younger's financial reforms and how it dramatically increased the UK's revenue, one of his major reforms was a single treasury account.

All because, the sort of people who have seized ruler-ship in our country have been people who are ready to rig elections, kill, blackmail, and eventually loot. They have had no good intentions for our development.
Nigeria is blessed but in the hands of the wrong people for many years.

Meanwhile,...these people don't read.
