We've waited for quite a long time for this, just as much as we also want the middle finger emoticon for BBM and other social media platforms.
But we need not wait much longer as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted recently that a "dislike" button is in the works. In an online session this is what Mark had to say:

People have asked about the 'dislike' button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it,"

He also said...

"The new feature will allow people to "express empathy" with their Facebook friends. If you are sharing something that is sad...then it may not feel comfortable to 'like' that post."

Zuckerberg actually didn't offer a specific time or date for when or how the "dislike" button would be tested on Facebook, but it's surely in the works.
