This is not about mixing business with friendship, they may not be friends but they are associates. There are perks your associates get that others would not. If he indeed gave him three gigs several months ago, then Sean was wrong on this one. Everything isn't about money, if you put money first ahead of relationship, then you likely to suffer the consequences. Most businesses don't thrive because of money but the business relationship/association that helps build the network.
