He will be docked for forgery too if they have any concrete evidence against him. But if he has any atom of brain, in such a scenario, he should tell them that he is quite content to be where he is now and play low key. But he is a politician, them and power is like a dog and a bone. They cannot resist the lure and then had their fingers burnt. |

oshyno: You really don't understand the powers of a Senate President. You think Saraki can just wake up and start unilaterally setting up probe panels especially when Senators know he is doing so to fight the President? Saraki will need the support of other Senators if he has decided to go for it in a winner-take-all battle against Buhari. When everyone realise this stage is upon us then you will see support for Saraki dissipate rapidly. No northern senator, not even those from the PDP, will support Saraki's effort to rubbish Buhari and , as I stated before, no SW APC senator will back Saraki ahead of Tinubu. I was one of those who stated here that Saraki, because he showed his hand of treachery too early, left himself vulnerable in a political term that has four years to go. "Act in haste repent at leaisure". 4 years in this case. You guys don't get it that we are not in 2019 election year where some may be emboldened to back Saraki on the supposition Buhari may lose the Presidency as the nPDP (new PDP group which included Amaechi and many others) rebelled against GEJ. All Senators and politicians have a fresh four year term under their belt. They will not risk anything for Saraki. You better believe that. Thinking otherwise mean you simply don't know Nigerian politicians. Unity group indeed. Let us see how far they will stick their neck out for Saraki when push comes to shove. 1 Like |

Gbawe: We are all making conjectures here. I remember what LittleFinger of game of throne said " a man that shows no motive is the man no one suspect.it will keep your fools confused. If they dont know who you or what you want they cant predict your next action" Both Tinubu and Saraki are savy. Buhari by the way is a civilian president soo he cant go beyond what the constitution prescribe. But mark this : If Saraki is going down, Tinubu is going down , APC might go down as well u know why, PDP might produce senate president after saraki and thaz will be a disaster for APC government. It is not impossible. 1 Like |

oshyno: This is why I said you are working with a sentimental outlook. Don't you get what is going on here? This is APC's attempt to consolidate power and put the PDP in its place for good. The APC has the majority in the senate and the treacherous antics of Saraki will never play out again because every APC politician is now ready for the PDP. Saraki caught others off gaurd becaase the APC where not expecting that level of treachery from him. As far as politics remain a game of numbers, and as far as Nigerian politicians are the same selfish lot who will seek first to protect their new four years mandate, then Saraki will be dumped if it is all out war. Even PDP Senators will desert him because they know there is four years for Buhari to take it personal against them. Nigerian politicians don't stick there neck out that far. Buhari may be a civilian president but he will not be scared of a battle and giving his all to win it - especially if such will impact on his chance to succeed or fail as President. I don't see how you don't get this. 2 Likes |

oshyno: Saraki or any senate president cannot set up a panel to investigate Tinubu in as much as he remains a private citizen. If Tinubu is to be questioned for any offence committed while in office, it is only the Lagos state house of assembly or an anti corruption agency that can summon and investigate him. The senate can only set up a panel to investigate a serving or former federal government official and even when they do that, their recommendation or resolution is at best advisory. It has no force of law so, the executive can easily ignore it. Tinubu in this case has never served at the federal level since the return to democracy in 1999 and am not too sure he has done any business deal with the federal government. He has been in opposition since 2007 so, I don't see any case that can warrant the senate to set up a panel to investigate. 5 Likes |

his own case is small, if the would be able to get rid of saraki, ekweremadu wont be a problem, they must have already concluded on his matter. you will see how EFCC will bring up his own allegation too, is it not politics? every politician have a cockroach in his wardrobe, so there something to drag him down with. 1 Like |

Rexology: How can you go to the Appeal court on a case yet to be concluded? If he doesnt appear in person at the Tribunal, he may be arrested. Especialy if PMB gives the nod. He will be promptly arrested, and there is nothing anyone will do about it. |

saintopus: Fight dirty against who? Buhari? That would be his end Tinubu? jagaban is not a hlder of any political office, so his political career cannot be ruined. He has no fear of impeachment or sack. Jagaban has nothing to lose here So who does Saraki want to fight? If you readhis response, you would see he too knows this is a fight he cant win, UNLESS Buhari decides to scold him internally and cover his shame |

Rexology: Under Buhari and his "body language" you do your job as you are supposed to. I know you are used to the years of the PDP that promoted the sloppiness, indiscipline and wanton corruption that allows politicians to be buying court orders that prevent their prosecution and arrest but let us see how things will pan out under Buhari. if I were a betting man than I would put a lot of money on many positive precedence being recorded in a Nigeria where corruption and political impunity is a way of life. The code of conduct tribunal has ordered Saraki be arrested, for non-appearance, and brought before it by Monday. Let us keep watching . You guys are all trying to turn Saraki into a superman merely because you are anti-APC and anti-Buhari. Hence you are comfortable lying to yourself Saraki has a chance. oshyno: This is what everything has boiled down to about your post. The irrational fear/hatred some of you have for Tinubu make you mention him irrelevantly and illogically blame him for everything. What makes you think Tinubu is involved in this? Saraki embarrassed Buhari and the APC immensely before the entire world. The Buhari government was new as well and it was important the APC showed a united face to the world for many reasons. Political infighting is always damaging. knowing all this, is it not obvious how a former army General will resent those he trusted who then planned a political coup against him? We are talking of the same Buhari who divorced a wife who accepted financial assistance from the same man who jailed him i.e IBB. Some of you guys are just too sentimental to see what is obvious. Keep going on about Tinubu. this shows you have your own prejudice that will not let you note the obvious which is that Buhari may deem Saraki's antics as a personal affront to his Presidency. If he can divorce a wife, and mother of his kids, for collecting cash from a political opponent what do you think Buhari will not do to deal with the treacherous Saraki who has embarrassed him and the APC? For some of you everything is Tinubu to the extent you miss what is very obvious and that history/logic supports. tinubu my foot. Buhari is a character even Tinubu cannot dare attempt to control. You need to understand this fundamental truth about Mr.President. |

Gbawe:Wasn't it treachery against the PDP that got APC tambuwal and saraki? You were on nairaland celebrating tambuwal for his treachery against the PDP. Look at you ranting now as if this is a new thing. Or is it because it is against the APC? Get real and drop this sanctimonious bullshitt. |

Re: What Happens To Ekweremadu If Saraki Is Jailed For Corruption. by Gbawe: 10:35pm On Sep 18, 2015 |
CSTR2: Those two defected. Tambuwal did not deceive his Party to make an ACN rep his deputy when he first emerged against the will of the Presidency back then. We should all be mature in outlook regardless of political affiliations. What Saraki did is not done anywhere. I.e giving a fierce opposition Party a route back to relevance the PDP had no right to obtain. Saraki crossed the line with that move and there should rightly be consequences for such grossly aberrant behaviour. Even Tambuwal never did that. If you put sentiments aside then you will see what is obvious and why Buhari has the right to take the PDP-empowering treachery of Saraki personally. We all know defection happens every time in politics and throughout the world yet show even ten example, as Saraki did, of politicians working deliberately to give the opposition strength through helping them win a a top legislative position that had no right or electoral might to occupy by virtue of being the minority. You have no case. Yes I backed Tambuwal's defection because it strengthened the APC. that is politics 101 but I would understand, before he defected, if the PDP took it personal and decided Tambuwal must pay for helping then ACN Gbajabiamila become deputy speaker when the PDP had a clear majority in the lower house. |

Rexology: The order is still subsisting and he'll be arrested if he tries to evade the tribunal on Monday. He is trying to abuse the court process, and the appeal court will embarrassingly put him in his place. But before then, he has to appear before the CCT, or he risks being arrested. |

Gbawe: U demonize what Saraki did and feel he shud be punished but from your other posts you hail that of Tambuwa. That aside, APC were happy when Saraki betrayed PDP and you feel they shud crucify him for betraying them ? wow. Also that aside. Dont you think APC shud be commending Saraki for not allowing PDP clinch the senate presidency cuz as at when they had the election, PDP had the numbers to do that. You are sounding as if the situation wud have been different were other APC senators that were at conference center in there. Same result wud have prevailed. Corruption is not only when you have your hand in the purse of the government. I dont hate Tinubu as a person but I hate his inhumane nature, corruption personified. He has APC in his pocket and daz why his company builds 1km road at N1b. That is height of corruption. Both Saraki n Tinubu shudnt be walking free in this country. The major issue here is even this: your whole posts sugest that Saraki is going through this bcuz he disobeyed his party.Wow again. This is where we differ. Corruption shud be fought holistically not some kind of with hunting bcuz he disobeyed his party. |

agabusta:Cant you see the comflict between the Tribunal and the Federal high court? what happens to the order earlier given by the federal high court before the tribunal 'hurriedly' issued that order? why would the Tribunal Chairman still go ahead to issue that order when Saraki's councel ( Joseph Daudu, a well respected SAN )promised to stake all his reputations to provide Saraki on Monday?. That order cannot subsist because there is already a comflicting order between the court of equal jurisdiction, therefore its only the Appeal court that can settle this comflict and that is why uptil this moment the IG of Police has not received such order officially to that effect. That Tribunal order is inside a trash bin. I am rather an advocate of Justice, equity, fairness and rule of law not a fan of Saraki. Many people on this forum comment out of hatred for Saraki for reasons best known to ALL. |
