I am a desperate job seeker haven completed my NYSC early this year.

I saw a job advert and applied for it. All criteria and requirements were met except for the fact that they wanted a first class or second class upper applicant while I graduated with second class lower (though from a reputable university in ghana).

I went ahead and filled in "second class upper" and I got an sms this morning inviting me for an aptitude test.

Like I earlier said, i'm desperate and would love to have this job but don't know if I should still go for the test or not.

Please advice
You mean, marketing Job from GNLD? cheesy. That's the only job offer with unexpected aptitude test grin

No need don't even go there.
One thing about job is that you can lie about everything and get ready to defend what ever you lied about,by going for research for relevant answers to your quest but lie about your grade isn't a good deed, you should never do it again, cos u will always be disqualified, next time fill in ur grade if you want to take chances even if they ask for higher.

Goodluck as u pursue for job!!!!
. It's either you fill in your true grade or you don't fill in any grade at all.

y jeans and t-shirt?
Because most of their open recruitment exercises are for RMDs. RMDs do field work and are always on trouser/jean and Ts...I'm telling you this because I have more than enough people there, not that I work with NBC. And I sure as well know a couple of them who wore Jeans and shirts to the interviews and are working with them now.

My dear, that is the way oo. Especially with NBC. Pass the test wella, nobody will remember your degree in NBC. Also, wear jeans and t-shirt to the interview, not suit. Thank me later.
Madam, where did you get this crap from?
Readers, ignore this for your own good.

I would strongly recommend that you go for the interview, prepare hard and give it your best shot. Sell yourself such that the company would want to keep you no matter what. When the issue of your certificate comes up, you can be like, oh it was a mistake when I was filling out the application. They should be able to work out something for you. Jobs are very hard to get in Nigeria. It is always better to give something a try than to not try at all.

It's crap of course, when it doesn't conform to popular standard. I guess you're one of those asking the OP to not attend the interview session "for his own good". Ignoramuses.

The OP attending the interview is not my business. Stop giving false information to people.
I don't think u have ever attended any NBC interview, and obviously ure not a staff. Y saying what you don't know?
I'm not interested in trading words with you.

Your problem is that you do not understand when to draw the line.

The op is not a donkey to understood that filing in what you never merited to seek for a job might not just get you into trouble but equally deny the rightful candidate of that position even if we argue that the probability of it happening is quite low.But it does happen.

Op has a dubious character and I have zero tolerance for people that cheat foolishly - If you must cheat, cheat like an educated fellow and of course don't get caught wink - He was only going for that interview to embarrass himself and even some serious outfit will arrest him.
Well said. If am in charge of the exercise, I will get the fellow arrested. People don't know that some corporations are big businesses that a dummy might ruin overnight. It's not funny.

Son, quiet there. I wouldn't respond to you, if you had not quoted me just so you can sound unexposed. You only just finished your NYSC like 2minutes ago, so why do you deem yourself fit to stand on a soap box and critique advices regarding job interviews? Even if you staff the gate of the NBC plant, you wouldn't always know the nitty-gritty details of their recruitment processes, more than someone who only meets up with the HR officer for drinks. Next, you'll tell us now that they employ everyone based on merit. Smh.

Aside that I DO KNOW people who wore Tees on Jeans and landed the job at NBC, wearing suits for interviews is not only sometimes unnecessary, but is also sometimes inappropriate. If they didn't teach you that at camp, you're hearing it from me now. Kill yourself, if you cannot stand a truth.

One way to come out of this problem is this.

Prepare a benchmarking that proves that a second class lower in that school is equivalent to a second class upper in other schools. And that you had to use 2:1 to at least get to point of making your point.

They may see the genius in you and hire you. Good luck

Re: Please Advice; Got Called For A Job Interview I'm Not Qualified for by aspirebig:
Op, dont even turn up.

No think am ooo, at all.

Integrity test number one is already failed before hand.

If at all, you graduated from the University of Star, and you did your Masters in University of Moon, supposing there is even any University like that.

In these days of technology, they will send message or people to moon and star to find out if you actually attended the school there. Not to talk of Ghana here, just next door neighbour to Nigeria.

Not just that. Your date of graduation, if it is same with what is in your CV, then your discipline, if it also is the same as what is in CV. Then, the grade is very important.

I am writing this to tell you that things like writing a wrong year of graduation, wrong discipline, is enough reason for HR to disqualify a potential job applicant, not to talk of your grade.

Have ever heard of University of Toronto saga.

Always tell the truth, no matter what. Ask God to bless you with good Job.

Even now, I am doubting if you actually not absconded during the NYSC.

Let it be clear that, it is not ALL graduates that pose with NYSC uniform actually graduated, not all that even served NYSC.

We have a lot of fake degree statement of results in circulation, even fake NYSC certificate, etc.

Some guys have climbed the corporate ladder, only for their fake credentials be their undoing. Then, HR will advice them to resign or get sacked.

Enough said.

Be wise.

[quote author=kovak post=38326103]Did you say you are desperate? Then why are you wasting your time with people's opinion?

Go and iron your shirt and dry clean your suit. Don't forget to give your shoes a good shine.

Many of us have done ridiculous things in pursuit of good jobs. Some have falsified their ages, some have claimed experience which they never had. Yours is claiming a higher grade than what you got.

My advice is attend the aptitude test. If you pass, then you're probably better than those 2.1 guys who wouldn't pass. If the issue of grade comes up at the interview, tell them it was a horrible Typo, but you've shown your ability by passing their test. You can even let them feel important by telling them that their aptitude test is one the toughest you've ever taken and that you are proud to have passed it.

No be only typo error.

Then put First class Hons and say it is a typo too.

If it is a typo, why not put 3rd class there, so the typo level will increase .lol.

Please dont even encourage such .They will also disqualify him by typo error too.

Is like you guys haven't faced a panel of interviewers before. Like 5 to 6 of them asking you different questions almost simultaneously.

Guy, you go sweat for winter...AC dey learn.Hmmm

Most people here think they would allow him to write the Aptitude test, from my personal experience, they wouldn't. Haven't you heard about company's policy? They would say it doesn't meet the company's policy. Go only for interviews you meet all their requirements unless ofcourse you have some sort of connections, but still in future you might be embarrased. Wait for your time and opportunity.

Lolzzz, you really got me laughing hard. So people don't get jobs even before they finish Nysc?
Old madam, I can understand how you feel. It's impossible in your world. As regarding nbc, you don't know anything about the company. I've been through there recruitment and the good news is I'm with them.
So I've my reasons for debunking ur false information.

Hahhahhahahhahahaha, high moral grounds you say? And you could comfortably call someone 'oloriburuku' and hurl insults at people without thinking twice? Nah!

Not all - I was only trying to show you that my supposedly high moral ground wasn't based on any ideology. cheesy

Some of you folks really need some basic lessons on comprehension.

I said ''supposedly'' high moral ground with emphasis on the supposedly.

You dig?

So he should rather chicken out? I'm not encouraging him to adopt lying as a way of getting by in life. But in this case, the deed has been done. So how does he get out of this mess and still make the best out of it?

I've attended several interviews and I think I understand the psychology of interview panels.

If anything, I agree that he shouldn't have lied... And he should never falsify records again. But for this situation, he should man up and make the best out of the situation.
