This is the shocking moment a woman was beaten by an elderly man after reportedly refusing to give up her seat on the bus.

The woman was allegedly asked to offer her seat to the OAP but had refused, which is when he launched his attack.

In the clip, that is thought to have been filmed in China, the man is seen hitting and punching the woman in the head several times.

Screaming and shouting can be heard from the woman and her fellow passengers.

Eventually, another commuter gets in between the man and the woman and he ceases his violent attack.

It is not clear whether the woman suffered any injuries.

Social media viewers are divided over the footage, with some suggesting that the woman was disrespectful for refusing to give up her place, while many others claimed the man's reaction was completely unjustified.

One wrote: "Remember that it is the culture of the country to revere the elderly, however I believe nothing justifies the aggression."

It is not clear whether police are currently investigating.
