what will you advice a newbie like me, that want to learn programming?
i mean should i pay an expert to teach me or can i learn on my own?

its best you learn on your own,get online video tutorials and have a mentor(sensei) * winks *

Thanks guys, I have decided to go with programming. I'll start from the basics, reading, YouTube, plus a friend-cum-mentor.

I am a bit late but i hope this still helps
It is okay to want to study computer science in the university, but except you are an idealist and you are really good at what you do, there is no guarantee that you are going to be successful, you could end up working for a "real" IT company in Nigeria (there are very few of those, by the way) and you will be underpaid, you will not really get what you are looking for except you decide to go and work outside Nigeria, Its just like a friend of mine in the US used to say "Over here, you can never get enough of programmers" they might be in very high demand over there but over here in Nigeria, except you have your own core idea and are willing to work on it, you are not going to have much going on for you.
Well that is except you are willing to go into theoretical computer science, you would end up as an academic though, i hear those guys get paid well enough at least.
