New York–President Muhammadu Buhari in New York, United States of America on Sunday stated that the prosecution of those suspected to have looted the treasury of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, will begin soon.

The president also restated his determination to fully sanitise the oil industry and make it totally free of corruption and shady deals.
President Buhari spoke at a meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations.

He recalled that he had to reorganise the Corporation by appointing a new management, saying it was one first necessary step to take.
President Buhari also expressed gratitude to the Chinese President for the country’s assistance to Nigeria in curbing crude oil theft even as he applauded China’s interception of shiploads of crude oil stolen from Nigeria.

“We know your stand on corruption, and we are grateful. Your continued cooperation in curbing oil theft from Nigeria will be appreciated,” Buhari said.
President Buhari also hinted the Nigerian military had been re-trained and re-equipped under his administration, stressing that this was responsible for the steady gains the military has recorded against Boko Haram.

Also speaking, President Jinping told President Buhari that China which is already handling many projects in Nigeria in areas like railway, airports, agriculture, and in the Mambilla Hydro-power project, among others, will increase its investment in the country’s agricultural sector to support the achievement of domestic food security.

He also promised further Chinese investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, and more support for human capital development in the country

Trial of Ex governors to begin soon, trial of looters to begin soon, trial of ex ministers to begin soon, trial of PDP to begin soon, trial of everybody to begin soon. Truthfully we are Fatigued from all the "begin soon" trial by media. Osibanjo as a SAN should help educate Buhari that trials are not fried rice and chicken. Even the accused are entitled to rights and to challenge the court process through injunctions, motions, appeals, adjournment etc which could take years before a conviction could be achieved. The noise APC spends on this Trial and a Probe issue is just a distraction from the substantive issues they promised Nigerians before the elections.

While we are in the season of Trials, hope Buhari hasn't forgotten that Audu Abubakar is on Trial for stealing Kogi's state N11billion and it's the same Audu that APC intends to present as it's candidate and the same Audu Buhari intends to raise his hand and campaign for. When is Buhari going to reinstate his commitment to sanitize Kogi state and corruption. Also Buhari should not forget the mismanagement of Lagos state funds by Fashola and how he plundered Lagos state into a 400billion debt planting flowers and designing 78million website. Is he not going to sanitize Lagos too with all the plethora of petitions filed against Fashola?

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. PMB should not make this probe thing selective and should stop making noise about probes and focus on the economy. It's already shameful that the UN feels disappointed in Nigeria for not attending a seminar organized for it and APC should stop deflecting its ineptitude with the crys of probe anytime people question it's competence.

Corruption is the root of all evils in this country. If he tackles it well he can address other issues to the best of his ability

PMB seem to have a lot of speakers

Saying what and what he didn't say - am so scared of China's assistance ,
there's a lot of Economic Colonization going on around the world.
The best thing is to have them as partners but proper laws/ policies will have to be on ground to protect workers in the various firms they will be setting up.

Baba, whichever way you decide to deal with those whose actions have directly and indirectly denied honest Nigerians the benefits of being called Nigerians, irrespective of who they are and where they are from, you have my unflinching support.

Through thick and thin, honest citizens will stand by you and give you all the moral support you need to fight this debilitating scourge to a stand still.

Haunt down all the witches and wizards, luck them all up, and throw the keys to their cells into the Mariana Trench- that is what I desire to see.

Number one on the wanted is Opolo Eyes I hope...

God bless you my President.

Abegi,
BUHARI/APC should just shut-up and commence investigations; they should name those found culpable and prosecute them.
GEJ and most of his Ex-ministers are still in Nigeria, they travel in and out of the country at will and have since dared Buhari to commence his so-called probe.
So Please, enough of the media trials, Get to work, Baba go slow.
Some of you guys are too damn dumb. You say they should "commence investigation", what the hell do you think EFCC have been doing with those they invite, having lunch

The topic says "trial" which means investigations have likely been concluded and evidences for diligent prosecution gathered. The next port of call is the court, hence the title of the thread.

And you say "they've been travelling in and out of the country with ease"..., are they supposed to be restrained from movement What is even wrong with you guys?? Do you people have any functional brain at all?? You imagine their ability to move around unrestrained is a minus on the part of the government, and the same ewes who say this, like yourself, would be the first to bleat from rooftops "DICTATORSHIP!!".

Dumb people just disgust me. Tufiakwa.
