“The fact that an opposition party replaced an entrenched government in a free and fair election is indicative of the deeper roots of our democratic system. Whatever one’s views are, Nigerians must thank former President Jonathan for not digging-in in the face of defeat and thereby saving the country untold consequences.

My advice:
Visit the website of the TV stations you listened to the speech and type whatever rubbish you want there.
Typing ur rubbish here on Nairaland means you are telling us that the speech is higher than your thought process. Or perhaps, since you don't understand English, request Nairaland admin to assist in translating the full text in various languages in Nigeria.

Independence day speeches is used to highlight significant progress made by a collective national will and unity.
To engender and promote rabid and irrational nationalism.
But in Nigeria, independence day speeches is used to promote the APC and threaten your opponents covertly.

All u need to do is read as it scrols from sentence to sentence. There is also a hard copy very close in case the tele-prompter mal-funtions or there is an error in what is scrolling.

As you know, I toured the neighbouring countries, marshalled a coalition of armed forces of the five nations to confront and defeat Boko Haram. I met also the G-7 leaders and other friendly presidents in an effort to build an international coalition against Boko Haram.

President Buhari said it was wrong for the former president gej to seek assistants from neigbouring countries to tackle boko haram. Why is he doing the same now.

Somebody spent 8 years,delivered beautiful speeches but did nothing. Another person spent 6years,delivered long speeches,took us many years backward and left us on the brink. Another has spent under 5months, delivered a beautiful and concise speech. There are signs all round that things are getting better.I am glad I advocated and voted change. God bless Nigeria. God bless president Buhari and Yemi Osinbanjo.
