It was like a sick, nearly dying man talking. If you watch movies where someone confessed after long illness, he spoke like them.

The same old watery stuff. Read/watch independence day speeches of true nations and you would feel the depth, passion and purpose radiating from the president.
Anyway, his speeches are not my concern.
His speeches are not your concern so why did you comment? cheesy

I like this
“We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose. This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress".

I love this speech.... short and precise well done Baba.

If there is anyone I wish is on your ministerial list. It is Amaechi that guy's support for you was fearless. I haven't seen a fearless guy like that in a long time it was almost like a war between him and the nations haha... if you no fit give am minister just give am ambassador for correct place as a well deserved pat on the back.

Somebody spent 8 years, delivered beautiful speeches but did nothing. Another person spent 6years,delivered long speeches, took us many years backward and left us on the brink. Another has spent under 5months, delivered a beautiful and concise speech. There are signs all round that things are getting better.I am glad I advocated and voted change. God bless Nigeria. God bless president Buhari and Yemi Osinbanjo.

That Same guy you insult everyday being celebrated by your paymaster!
Loot for 5yrs and smartly concede defeat to avoid innocent deaths. Now tell us why it nullifies all those years of corruption?

Even his supports only talk about that decision. Nothing else exceptional is remembered about Jonathan when you realize how much damage he did. PDP is already in disgrace just 3 moths out of power because of the legacy of corruption and failures Jonathan left behind.

An excellent speech! Brief and straight to the point; it captures the events of the moment of our national life. For those that didn't understand the President, they should go have their brains crosschecked. Even my 5 years old nephew understood the President.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I am not an adent fan of Buhari but I think he did justice to the speech. He was concise and on point. I notice however that the speech was prerecorded and his voice was edited for audibility. Overall the content was good and on point.

@ PRYCE and zicoraads: Jonathan's incompetence and failures is the reason why we are at the stage we are now. If he had not presided over the exportation of Terror, he may have even still be president.

A little spark that Jonathan met in 2010 is now a wildfire burning the forest, and you are here asking why Buhari is deploying tanks of water (multi-national force) and not the bucket of water that was suggested when it was just a candle flame.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday
regretted how a country as strong as Nigeria which
is known for its military prowess has fallen so
deep into the hands of ruthless elements of
insurgency so much so that it now requires the
coalition of smaller countries for it to win the war.
Does the word regret now have a new meaning? The question being asked here is how we have fallen deep into these insurgency

Dry, boring, and banal.

Nothing inspiring in the speech. And the Chibok girls have been completely forgotten, instead of being brought back home as promised by APC!

Re: What Is Your Take On President Buhari's Independence Day Speech by dantewest: 10:08am On Oct 01, 2015
Buhari's supporters will do anything to make it look like Buhari is faultless, stainless, all knowing, saint, purer than saints, holier than holy, cleanest, sanest, most hardworking, and most sincere man in Nigeria. Non is holier or better than Buhari.

That is just sad, cos Buhari is definitely not who the media propaganda paint him to be.

Although, there has been light so far. I just pray the Nation won't be misruled as we have always been.

And for those shouting Wailing wailers at anyone who questions Buhari, those people are the most dangerous people to give any sorts of relevance to.

Instead of them to argue with sense and fact, they resort to silly abuses and name calling. That is simply immature, brutal and wicked.

The term wailing wailer is used to discredit any other point of view that any legitimate Nigerian have. I see it as a wicked type of censorship, attacking the sub consciousness of anyone who doesnt fall in line with the party's point of view.

Grab a book, not just any book. Read 1984 by George Orwell. Read it and gain insights to how the government is not to be trusted, especially in this modern age.

Be wise.

If you can't even acknowledge the massive looting that took place under Jonathan, then we really don't have much to discuss.
Happy Independence Day!
