I remember a debate I had with a few people in 2012. They said that Buhari never condemned the 2011 post election violence. I showed them proof that he did condemn it. They said they wanted more evidence, so I provided audio evidence. One of them then said that he should have condemned it in hausa language on BBC Hausa. I showed him proof that Buhari did condemn the violence in hausa language on BBC Hausa. He then said that the Sultan should have condemned it. I am sure that if I had shown him proof that the Sultan condemned it, he would have said that the Emir of Kano should have condemned it.

He was more or less distancing himself from the killings...that he had nothing to do with it. He neither showed sympathy nor empathy with those killed.
Why did it have to be on audio?
A truly concerned person would do such audio-visually.

That said, I was asking about Boko Haram.
That's different from the post election violence.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Muhamadu Buhari has condemned the Sunday’s attack by the Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State where over 121 persons were killed.

The former Head of State wondered why the terrorists and criminal elements could still express themselves despite the presence of the military in the region.

Gen. Buhari in a statement posted on his facebook page after the Sunday’s attack, said the sect had diabolic ideology.

The three-time presidential candidate said, “We condemn the recent escalation of senseless violence in Borno State. Our prayers and sympathies are with the victims and their families.

“There is no justification for this wanton disregard for the sanctity and dignity of human life. Any ideology that trafficks in terror and violence is a devilish ideology that has no place in a civilized society.

“This is the time for our security agencies and those responsible for the security and well-being of our citizens to intensify vigilance in order to mitigate future occurrences.

“Because, it is inconceivable that despite heavy militarization, terrorists and other criminal elements are still able to terrify the defenceless populations of those areas.
“May God grant us the strength and unity to overcome this.”

Former Head of State and Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change at the 2011 election, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, has condemned Friday bomb attacks at the United Nations House in Abuja in which many lives were lost and several people were wounded.

In a statement signed by his spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, General Buhari described the horrendous attack as a heart-rending devastation and a great challenge to the emotion, and sent his condolences to the United Nations, the mourning people of Nigeria and the grief-stricken families.
"It is my prayer that the Almighty will comfort all the bereaved and bring speedy recovery to all the wounded" he said.
 
Gen Buhari also frowned at the lazy official response that has accompanied serial challenges to security in the country.  "There has yet to be any coordinated response by the security forces in the country,” he said.  “It is unprofessional and incompetent for our security agencies to surrender to this omnibus Boko Haram as the only clue to every security challenge."


He warned that such a situation portends a serious danger to the country: "What that means is that even foreign interests can enter Nigeria today and wreak havoc and issue a statement in the name of Boko Haram and we will bury our dead and life continues," he said.

The General called on those in charge of the country to seriously address all the social problems confronting Nigeria and show the focused leadership which is lacking at the moment.

I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view to join me in working for the nation.

President Goodluck Jonathan, former Head of State Muhammadu Buhari, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)  are among eminent Nigerians and institutions who have condemned the Christmas Day church blasts in several states of northern Nigeria.

“These acts of violence against innocent citizens are an unwarranted affront on our collective safety and freedom,” the President said in a statement by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, adding, “Nigerians must stand as one to condemn them.”

In his response, General Buhari said, "Bombing other human beings to death at any time is callous. It becomes much more reprehensible on a Christmas day and all lovers of peace must condemn these gruesome acts and demand that the perpetrators be fished out and brought to book."

The bombings took place at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State; Jos, Plateau State; and Damaturu, Yobe State.

In a statement, the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, on behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC), condemned what he called “this recourse to extremist ideologies in a multi-religious and multi-cultural society such as ours and urge our people to take the path of dialogue rather than violence.”

Regretting that the unfortunate incidents had spoiled the celebratory mood across the land, President Jonathan assured Nigerians that his government remained resolute in resolving the security challenges that confront the nation.

“I want to reassure all Nigerians that Government will not relent in its determination to bring to justice all the perpetrators of today’s acts of violence and all others before now,” he said.

In his comments, General Buhari expressed worry about the “seeming mute indifference” of the Nigerian authorities to today’s events.

"How on earth would the Vatican and the British authorities speak before the Nigerian government on attacks within Nigeria that have led to the deaths of our citizens?” he asked.  “This is clearly a failure of leadership at a time the government needs to assure the people of the capacity to guarantee the safety of lives and property."

He called on the Nigerian government to rise up to the challenge of security in our country and not to believe that it's just about voting almost a quarter of the budget to security.

"You can devote the entire budget to security and there won't be any result if there is no competence in leadership to know what to do at the right time," he said. 

Just yesterday, SaharaReporters broke the story of police awareness of preparations Fulanis in Kaduna State and the militant Islamic group Boko Haram, to carry out attacks in November to December.  The United States had also previously alerted the Nigerian government of plans by Boko Haram to attack selected locations, but the government dismissed the alert.

In a recent statement, a former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, made the disquieting statement that the Nigeria Police is no match for Boko Haram.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has survived a bomb attack in Kaduna, but his vehicle was destroyed.

On a day when multiple blasts rocked the city, Buhari’s vehicle was caught in the blast – which he described as an assassination attempt – in the Kawo area of Kaduna State.

“He was lucky to survive. The car is gone,” his media aide, Malam Yau Darazo, told TheCable on phone.

President of Movement for Accountability and Good Governance (MAGG), Jasper Azuatalam, said three aides and security men attached to Buhari were injured in the blast while en route to Daura.

“The bomb blast was said to be targeted at Buhari, as the bombers trailed his convoy and detonated the bomb very close to his convoy, injuring his security and personal aides. However, the General is in good condition apart from the trauma of the incidence,” he said.

Buhari himself later confirmed the incident in a statement he personally signed.

“I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack along Ali Akilu Road, Kawo-Kaduna at about 2:30pm on my way to Daura,” he wrote.

“The unfortunate event, clearly an assassination attempt, came from a fast-moving vehicle that made many attempts to overtake my security car but was blocked by my escort vehicle.

“We reached the market area of Kawo where he attempted to take advantage of our slowing down and attempted to ram my car and instantly detonated the bomb, which destroyed all the three vehicles in our convoy.

“Unfortunately, when I came out of my vehicle, I saw many dead bodies littered around. They were innocent people going about their daily businesses who became victims of mass murder.

“Thank God for His mercy, I came out unhurt but with three of my security staff sustaining minor injuries – they have since been treated in the hospital and discharged.”

What PMB was particularly against was foreign troops fighting on our soil and outperforming our own troops in a war that is clearly ours. He was never against collaborating with our neighbors but if you have any quotes where he condemned such collaboration, please share it.

I want everybody to see how the goalpost shifts. It's gone from "he didn't condemn" to "yet they chose him as mediator" (as if he has any say in who they choose as mediator and as if he accepted that role). Let's see how far away they move the goalpost by the time I'm done posting.
