While walking down a street just beside CRUTECH, calabar, I spotted these funny displays. When I got closer, I discovered that the bottle was used to house a PHCN bill payment slip. It was funny, but then I found myself wondering: is this how we now roll?

So in other words... This is how we roll now.

It doesn't just rain but it pours in calabar. Landlord doesn't want to keep photocopying stuff.

They don't want to take chances because once these PHCN guys cut anybody's electricity cable, the person will have to pay additional money for reconnection.

With d number of insane beings here don't u think it's rather too risky of a job to leave ur valuables outside... for am sure it's quite easy for a mad person to retrieve d entire bottle with impunity. Putting PHCN bills inside plastic bottles, don dey tey tey also, this is a way of protecting the bills and PHCN official no go dey disturb you, by banging at your gate and asking for your bill, that is for the courteous ones though. So it is not how they roll now, it is how the roll tey tey.

I do it too. I remember the period we will paste the bill close to the meter and we all go out and lock the gate. The electricity folks will come and disconnect us and will be reluctant to come and reconnect us. Also rain can sabi spoil pasted bills if they are pasted on the gate or sun can dry it out. This method is the best for now.

It's simple enough. I have observed where lots of residents adopt such.

This is usually in buildings where the residents are usually out during the daytime when PHCN officials come to check the bills.
If there's no one around to show them evidence of payment, they promptly disconnect the electricity by cutting the supply cable.

So, to avoid the inconvenience of getting you disconnected because there was no one around to present the receipt, you simply do it this way.
Saves a lot of headache.
