Most of them lobby to be allowed to cover such events.

If any one of them is waiting to be paid to cover such a national event, there are many others who will gladly do it without a fee.

It's about getting more people to view your channel. That is also part of the business. It's a form of advertisement for them.

Those media stations mentioned would lobby and bribe their way to get clearance to go cover those events, if they don't succeed, there are a lot of other media houses queueing outside that would be too excited to take their place.

Very soon someone would soon tell us the INEC paid channels TV to cover the announcing of election results, or maybe the CCT paid Channels/AIT to cover saraki's trial last week.

The federal government don't have to pay TV or radio stations to cover Nigeria Independence day anniversary as they make their money from advertisements. Simply..
