he should drop the so called free education then...person put gun to his head to do free education in the first instance? I always knew hw was deficient in administration though
free education my foot...last time I checked...students from junior secondary downwards are not mandated to paid fees anywhere in nigeria as they are covered by UBEC...the only places you find such is where the government has not been able to implement it...last I checked before the coming of Rochas senior secondary students were paying an average of N3000 while imsu students were paying about N38000,today the senior secondary students are not paying school fees but have to pay for their waec n ssce while imsu students pay N20000....so please where is the free education...Imo state receives an average of N3.9b and it's local governments about N3b monthly...we don't have local government chairmen...that's about N7bn at worse monthly....lets say we have 60000 students under the sham free education and he pays N30000 for each of them yearly...that's about N1.8B. yearly.......where is our money going tohuhfree education is no excuse my people...where is our money

I weep for Imo state people last week when I travelled from Aba to Ekwulobia by Adam & Eve Motors, all the roads leading from Umuhia to IHITE/UBOMA, IHIME MBANO, IDEATO NORTH & IDEATO SOUTH are terribly in bad state. I even pitied the transporters plying that root.

Abagworo:
Is Akwakuma now part of Owerri town? The OP wrote all roads in Owerri town and you are busy looking for every bad road to show. Around Owerri as I noted the challenges of flooding and its resultant bad road are within the Uratta/Orji/Amakohia axis which includes Works layout and Umuguma/World bank axis. It has been so long before we were born and we should encourage every move by Government to help and not politicise natural disaster.
abagworo, shut up. U r becoming disgusting. I wish u go through roads like this everyday. Just shut up u hypocrite. Call a spade a spade. I supported rochas. But he is a total and recognised failure. His failure is both magnanimous and ambiguous.

Pity yourself iddiiot. When I was screaming about the state of nearly all federal roads in Igboland y'all were fighting me for this truth. The entire roads hang on the neck of Jonathan and it is like that all over Southeast and SS. Now oil has fallen and we have limited funds to handle many roads at a time. If I was Buhari I will face only areas that supported the truth that Nigeria needed change while the self delusionists should wail forever.

Good morning.

Bad roads, erosion: Anambra
royal father weeps as domain
suffers untold hardship

From David Onwuchekwa, Nnewi

When a monarch cries, his subjects must have been
wailing to the high heavens because it is very unusual
for a monarch to cry.

This is the case for the Igwe of Igbo-Ukwu, His Royal
Highness, Igwe (Dr) Martin Ezeh in Aguata Local
Government Area of Anambra State, who recently
cried out in an emotion-laden voice for the federal
and state governments to come to the rescue of his
people who have been cut off by dilapidated road
network and flood disaster.

In Igbo-Ukwu, which has one of the biggest local
markets in West Africa, several federal institutions
are sited there.

The town has houses the National Gallery of Arts,
Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture, the Yam
House, and Old People’s Home and Botanic Garden.
They are sited in Igbo-Ukwu because of its historical
importance which stretches back into antiquity as the
origin of all migrants, including the Igbo race,
according to history.

But this ancient community, which is the home town
of the first civilian Governor of Anambra State, Dr
Chukwuemeka Ezeife, who did his bit in his own time,
has suffered neglect in the hands of successive
administrations in Anambra before Governor Willie
Obiano came in with little or no significant change so
far.
Apart from a lot of dilapidated infrastructure or non-
availability of them, the major concern of the Igbo-
Ukwu people now is the state of Nnobi-Awka-Etiti-
Igbo-Ukwu-Ekwulobia road.
The road in Igbo-Ukwu connects Imo and Abia states
and these are federal roads.

There is a particular portion of the road from Awka-
Etiti axis that cuts across the entrance to the palace
of the Igwe of Igbo-Ukwu, which is now completely
impassable even on foot, especially when it rained.
Motorists and other road users now have to divert into
village track roads to burst into Nkwo Igbo-Ukwu
market in order to avoid the portion of the road that
has constituted a death trap.

The Igwe said that many lives have already been lost
on the road because of its dilapidation.
“That road has been a torn on our flesh. It has been
bad for quite some time now and I have drawn the
attention of the Anambra State government to it
severally. When Mr Peter Obi was the governor, I
drew his attention to it on six several occasions, but
nothing was done. Governor Willie Obiano has come
to see it, but unfortunately nothing serious has been
done to address the problem.

“We learnt that the governor did not agree with the
Federal Government. We do not know what actually
the problem is. You know this is a federal road and it
is now abandoned. I think what Governor Obiano
should have done is to do the road and may be
present his bill to the Federal Government instead of
leaving it in this state. We are terribly suffering.

Besides, we are still grappling with erosion menace in
our community. A lot of houses have been pulled
down in some villages within my domain by flood
because of the bad road. When it rains, flood
overflows the drainages resulting in the destruction of
domestic animals, cash crops, economic trees and
household property. We are finished. We appeal to
both the federal and state governments to come to our
rescue urgently. We have used the little resources we
have to control the flood to no avail,” the Igwe
lamented.

Igwe Ezeh wondered why his community would be
neglected and subjected to hardship despite its
traditional and archeological importance in Anambra.
The traditional ruler said he had been restraining the
youths of the area who were boiling not to take laws
into their hands.

You are already dying from corruption like your masters. I never said Jonathan was responsible for Orji but he is for all federal roads he claimed through Ihedioha to have done including Nekede road, Umuapu-Omerelu road and Amaraku-Okigwe road. Rochas Okorocha did many roads which some failed while others stand. I have not been able to visit Imo for the past 6 months because there is no good federal road into the Southeast from Port Harcourt.

All of Nigeria is like that. Igbos are stupid for trying to blackmail Okorocha. Do you know that Oraifite in your State has 51 active erosion sites? What did Jonathan do for them or when has anyone blamed Obiano but just one erosion at Nekede and stupid Igbos are trying to make the worst out of it to blame Okoricha for that federal road claimed to be awarded for 6billion by Jonathan. Shame on whoever is involved.

Tragedy: Anambra community sends
SOS to Obiano, Buhari

September 26, 2015 at 12:28 am in News

By Vincent Ujumadu, Awka

FOR the people of Umuogbo Obiofia, Nnewichi in Nnewi
North local government area of Anambra State, life has
become a nightmare as a cross section of residents have
become refugees, fleeing the community as ravaging
flood from gully erosion continues to submerge houses
there by the day.
One of the latest
victims of the
flood invasion is a
retired Deputy
Superintendent of
Police, Mr.
Christopher Enem,
who reportedly
took ill when it
became obvious
that he may lose
his house to the
erosion. Days
later, Enem died
and weeks after
his burial, the
flood apparently
made good its
threat and
consumed Enem’s
house, grave and all.

In a similar incident, villagers forced a woman out of her
house when she was reluctant to leave and moments
after she was evacuated, the house fell into the gully. As
at the last count, the flood in the community has
submerged well over 25 houses and more are still going
down, killing some 15 persons. A number of the victims
lost their lives as the flood swept away their houses
while they slept at night.

One of the victims, Hyacinth Orji, had his house
submerged early this week while another resident,
Joseph Atueyi has abandoned his mansion for fear of
being swallowed by the rampaging flood.

Some others who have fled their houses and currently
residing with their families elsewhere in another part of
the community also include Felix Enemchukwu,
Christopher Elodinmuo, Ifedigbo Augustine, Paul
Ifedigbo, Ernest Enemchukwu, Vincent Okafor, Joseph
Okeke, Innocent Atueyi, Jonathan Okonkwo, Johnson
Igwilo, Simon Igwilo and Nnamdi Okonkwo.

When Saturday Vanguard visited the community,
residents lamented that apart from the houses, they have
also lost hundreds of economic trees to the flood,

Abagworo and his Berem na wa for how una want to defend the indefensible.

Why still call Jonathan?

Come to Orlu see flood and cry your hearts out.

When Okorocha government was scrapping roads without first completing the Orlu urban drainage systems, una shouted down prople who shouted foul. You even said Federal government must come to complete urban drainage system.

Now come see wahala of building roads without first building urban drainage systems.

Virtually all the roads in Owerri are in a terrible state and this is a direct consequence of the state government's inactivity.

Will you also blame Jonathan for non payment of salaries or for the dilapidated health sector even with the allocation Imo state was receiving?

If I decide to show you the real Anambra especially Awada, Onitsha and Okpoko you will shed tears at how heaps of refuse, erosion and flood has taken its toll. Don't bring up picture challenge.

When I tell Abagworo the type of roads and rehabilitation rochas engaged in he thinks I am being too critical..a tour round owerri wil make shake his head in despair at the so called rehabilitated or constructed roads.i wonder who he thinks he is deceiving
That one? Abagworo is just an Internet contractor. Don't even bother trying. It's people like him that make me wonder what would happen when this generation take over leadership.
Rochas is the worst calamity to befall Imo State since creation and I'm glad it has come to light.
