Notorious Drug Baron, Rafiu Elele Faces Trial In US, Names Prominent Nigerian Drug Barons To Interpol..Two Senators Indicted. By Ayobami Ladipo / March 8, 2014 / 4 Comments Print Email Elele Notorious drug baron, Rafiu Akanbi Elele is currently standing trial in court in the United States, over multiple suspected cases of drug trafficking. The controversial socialite and a dye-in-wool fan of Fuji Czar, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal was arrested in Lagos and extradited to the United States of America, USA, by officials of the International Police Force, Interpol. Before his arrest, Elele had been on Interpol’s most wanted list for so many years. His eventual extradition was fallout of eight years of frantic searching, investigation and surveillance by Interpol. Before his arrest, Elele had been on Interpol’s most wanted list for so many years. His eventual extradition was fallout of eight years of frantic searching, investigation and surveillance by Interpol. Sources indicate that Rafiu Elele has been singing like a canary to the Interpol. He is alleged to have quite a number of prominent Nigerians, who ran the drug cartel with him. It is gathered that the severity of Rafiu Elele’s crime may earn him between 10 to 12 years in jail. Very soon, names of top Nigerians who have involved in the illicit business will soon start to pop up as the Interpol is said to have a full list of prominent Nigerians to arrest. Elele gained notoriety as a formidable kinpin of the illicit drug cartel in Chicago. Although, he is barely taller than a dwarf, Elele dominated the drug cartel in Chicago for so many years, like a collosus. He was known to have controlled a large cartel of the drug business for so many years before the bubble burst on him. According to sources, the genesis of Elele’s trivial began in 2005, when the drug law agents in Chicago were alerted of his illicit involvement in drug business. It was gathered that an epidemic of drug-intake related disease broke out in Chicago during that time. This was later traced to some of the hard drugs being sold by Elele’s boys to junkies. Before long, the Chicago drug law agents realised the severity of Elele’s involvement in drug business and thus, decided to put a stop to it. Consequently, most of his boys and business A$$ociates were arrested, put to trial and sentenced to jail. Notable among those who was jailed was Akinyemi Akingba, a close friend and business A$$ociate of Rafiu Elele. Surprisingly, Elele could not be nabbed during the raid. However, he came so close to being arrested by the police, but he escaped in a manner which defiled natural logic. It was gathered that the Chicago police had acted on a tip off that the diminutive man was at Kato African Restaurant located on North Clark Street and Touhy Avenue, Chicago. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the police searched for Elele, without any success. Somehow, he had managed to escape few minutes before the police arrived at the venue. Faced with the reality that his stay in the US could no longer be guaranteed since the US police was determined to nail him, Elele decided to relocate to Canada. Upon his arrival in Canada, a country, whose drug laws is still evolving; Elele saw a more enabling environment for his dealings. Before long, his coast of infamy as the baron of illicit drug trafficking in and out of Canada began to expand. While in Canada, Elele lived in Brampton, Toronto. It was gathered that many asylum seekers facilities in Canada became his major channels of operation. The Canadian drug law enforcement agents were later alerted of Elele’s growing drug activities and they promptly made a move to arrest him. But just like what happened in Chicago, Elele escaped under a mysterious cirCµmstances. It was gathered that he was at an African restaurant when the police arrived. But he was snuck to the store of the restaurant and hid in a sack of gari( CA$$ava flour). And how Elele found himself in South Africa is a mystery that keep eluding many people till date. During his sojourn in South Africa, Elele also practised his drug trade. But his stay in SA was brief, because by now, he was being haunted by two countries-the United States and Canada for alleged drug related offences and money laundering. By the time he finally left SA and relocated to Nigeria, the diminutive drug baron had got the attention of the Interpol as a person, who must be brought to book. It was gathered that when Elele settled down in Nigeria, he refused to severe his ties with the drug business. And he was reported to have court the angst of some of his A$$ociates, whom he cheated in the drug business. Elele’s greatest undoing later turned out to be his refusal to settle some of his A$$ociates, who had helped him to facilitate the sale of a landed property. Elele was alleged to have reneged on the agreement to pay these guys of their ten percent commission. Irked by this act of greed as displayed by Elele, the aggrieved party alerted the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA of his dealing in drug trade in the US and Canada. It was gathered that after much investigation, the NDLEA confirmed the veracity of the claim. Subsequently, Elele was arrested and detained at the agency’s office. Apparently, the aggrieved group was bent on sealing Elele’s fate. This is because it got in touch with a lady, whose younger brother was one of Elele’s boys, serving jail term in the US, and informed her that Elele was in NDLEA’s custody. This unidentified lady was reported to have called Interpol and furnished them with information about Elele’s whereabout. Pronto, the Interpol was said to have dispatched some officials to travel down to Nigeria and arrest Elele. It was gathered that the Interpol arrived Nigeria, stated the reasons for their mission and asked that Elele be released to them. At this juncture, Elele’s family and a few of his friends, who had, hitherto, treated his arrest by NDLEA with a kid’s gloves, made an effort to foil his arrest. But their efforts turned out to be furtile. Elele was finally handed over to Interpol and he was flown to the US, where he will be tried and sentenced to jail. The diminutive socialite, was reported to have wept and wailed throughout the flight to the United States. Those names he mentioned to the Interpol include a well-known musician from the South-West, two termed senators, a male and a female, a top fashion dictator in Ikeja who attends top social functions, a certain political gladiator, three top celebrities in Lagos who live inside VGC, Ajah to mention but a few. - See more at: http://www.porscheclassy.com.ng |

Nigerian drug lord gets 25-year sentence, as US begin moves to extradite PDP Chieftain, Buruj Kashamu Damilola J October 3, 2014 Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter by Kolapo Olapoju A Nigerian man, Koyode Lawrence, was sentenced to nearly 25-years in prison on Tuesday, 30 September, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to import a controlled substance. Lawrence, who is believed to have run one of the most expansive heroin smuggling networks ever uncovered in Houston’s main airport, was sentenced in a Houston federal courtroom. The case commenced in February 2001 when two men working for Lawrence were arrested at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The arrested pair had swallowed packets of heroin being smuggled from Nigeria. He led a Lagos Island-based trafficking organization that used high-school and college-aged Americans to swallow dozens of rubberized capsules full of heroin in order to sneak them into the United States while aboard commercial plane flights. Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Lawrence mainly recruited college students with dual US and Nigerian citizenship for his smuggling ring. Court testimony revealed that Lawrence personally evaluated “swallowers” to see whether they had the stomachs for the business, according to court papers and testimony. He fought extradition for nearly 10 years but was transferred to the US in late 2013. Meanwhile, the United States is about to commence extradition proceedings against a PDP South West leader, believed to be Prince Buruji Kashamu. On Wednesday, 1 October, a U.S official disclosed that Kashamu has evaded prosecution also for over a decade. The PDP Chieftain, alongside 14 others were in 1998 charged by a federal grand jury for their alleged involvement in an international conspiracy to smuggle heroin into the US. Although Kashamu denied allegations and fled the US to the United Kingdom, before he returned to Nigeria, the US judiciary has since been trying to extradite him for a trial. In 2009, Kashamu, who is a major campaigner for President Jonathan in the South West, through a local counsel in the U.S, filed that allegations held against him be quashed, on the ground that an English court had found him not guilty, but the Court of Appeal in the US on 15 September dismissed an appeal filed by the accused seeking to quash his indictment. Subsequently, he filed an order of mandamus (motion for dismissal) on 18 August to dismiss the indictment instituted against him, but the Chairman of Mobilisation and Organisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received an unfavourable judgement. The Northern District of Illinois court ruled that the politician should return to the U.S to face trial. |

A man believed to be originally from Nigeria who was sentenced to 20 years jail in Italy on drugs trafficking charges has been living in Dublin and working as a taxi driver in Ireland. After a major international manhunt, Yemi Moshood Olatunde (47) was picked up by garda officers from the force’s extradition unit and he appeared in the High Court last week He was sentenced for conspiring with other Nigerian nationals in relation to a multi-million euro cocaine trafficking conspiracy in Naples almost 14 years ago. But while he has been one of Italy’s most wanted fugitives, he has been living in Tallaght under a false name and operating a taxi business as well as raising a young family. Yemi Moshood Olatunde maintained he had been arrested in a case of mistaken identity when gardai detained him last Tuesday. However, the High Court ruled that fingerprint evidence shows he is the man being sought by Italian authorities. Olatunde’s lawyers had argued that the evidence sent by Interpol was inadmissible. However Mr Justice John Edwards remanded him in custody pending full extradition proceedings after gardai gave evidence that his prints were an “exact match” for the man named on the European Extardition Warrant. Gardai told the court that Olatunde, of Sundale Parade, Tallaght, Dublin had been living under a number of different aliases in Ireland. Det Sgt Sean Fallon told the interlocutory hearing that when he was arrested at 12.25pm at Tallaght Garda Station, the respondent insisted he was Roy Yemmy Andrew Aro. His prints were taken and they matched those of Olatunde. The court heard the respondent had been in Ireland for eight years and had “significant interactions” with the gardai. He had been fingerprinted more than once. The respondent was adamant he was not Olatunde and had a driving licence and PSV licence under the name of Roy Yemmy Andrew Aro. He also told gardai he no longer lived in Tallaght and that he had an address in the city centre but refused to provide this address. He said Olatunde was a tribal name but not his. FINGERPRINTS Kieran Kelly BL, for the respondent, argued that the fingerprint and photographic evidence supporting the European Arrest Warrant had not come through the proper channels. It came from Interpol in Rome and he argued it should have been submitted by or on behalf of the issuing judicial authority – in this case, the Italian public prosecutor. A MOTHER-of-six who is the wife of Olatunde was also arrested earlier last week following an international manhunt. Both maintained they were arrested in cases of mistaken identity but the High Court heard their fingerprints were “absolute matches” for the couple being sought by Interpol. Mr Justice John Edwards remanded Ahmed in custody yesterday after making the same order in the case of her husband on Wednesday. He said he was satisfied the woman before the court and Aisha Ahmed were “one and the same person”, despite her denials. The couple’s cases have been adjourned pending full extradition proceedings. Keiran Kelly BL, for the respondent, had argued that the identification documents – fingerprints and a photograph – were not admissible in evidence. Ahmed’s arrest hearing was told the respondent was a naturalised Irish citizen and had been living under the name of Gloria Aro at Sundale Parade, Tallaght. Her husband had been living under the name Roy Yemmy Andrew Aro. Ahmed’s sentence was for the offence of, as promoter, leader or organiser, taking part in an association with the purposes of committing an indefinite number of crimes involving the importation, sale, distribution, trade and illicit possession of “remarkable quantities” of cocaine at locations in Italy between 1999 and 2000. She had been given a 22-year sentence in 2005 which was later reduced to 20 years. The court heard a diffusion document – requesting the location and arrest of Ahmed – was sent to the Irish authorities by Interpol in Italy. Attached were her fingerprints and a her photograph. Sergeant Jim Kirwan told the court when he went to the respondents’ home address on Thursday, she was not at home and he left his card with her family. He returned yesterday in possession of a European Arrest Warrant and spoke to Ahmed. When asked her name she said she was Gloria Aro and denied that she was also known as Aisha Ahmed. She gave a date of birth in December 1967 and said she was Nigerian but told him she had never lived in Italy. By Herald.ie |

Let us give credit where credit is due. Let's call a spade a spade. Let me say thanks to all the Ibo boys for exercising some patience and restraint here. Let's speak the truth. If this guy was an Ibo man, walahi talahi, all the usual suspects would have launched many pages of tribal attacks at Ibo people. But the Ibo guys have shown a lot of maturity and plenty of restraint here in the forum. I respect them for that. Next time, let everyone do the same thing. Crime knows no tribe. Criminals can belong to any tribe. |
