Nigeria society is not new to bombing. In fact, bomb is fast becoming household name among Nigeria populace.

It is sad to know that the first bomb explosion occured when Nigeria was celebrating her 50th anniversary (golden jubilee) of her independence. According to the report, there was 27 victims. 10 died while 17 others were injured. The perpetrator was said to be a member and the then leader of Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) in person of Henry Okah. Although he was sentenced by a competent court in South Africa after he was found guity.

The 2010 independence celebration unfortunate incident has now turned into serious issue and become the toast of the terrorists. After the first expolsion, bombing activities have became uncountable.

The recent bombing in Abuja which was a day after our 55th anniversary of independece reminds us of the genesis of bomb explosion in Nigeria and the challenges ahead.
