After last week's shootings in Oregon, USA, policicy proposals are now being made. Many presidential candidates were asked their opinion on gun rights, Ben Carson, author of Gifted Hands and current Presidential candidate also expressed his own view.Ben Carson who is now a retired neurosurgeon defended gun rights as a safeguard against government tyranny and said that mass shootings are a psychological health issue. In a Facebook post, he wrote about how, as a physician, he has had to treat several gunshot victims, commenting: "I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away." he said.

He also added, "I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say: 'Hey, guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can't get us all."

Aside from his muslim comment, I see nothing wrong in any of his
other opinions , maybe you have an axe to grind with him.
It is illegal(to some extent) to own guns in Nigeria, yet every
common criminal possess at least a pistol for their nefarious activity.
Of what use is giving criminals free hand to use weapons while the
law abiding citizens are denied the same right ?

Are you aware that switzerland, czech republic and france also has a very lax gun laws ?
How come mass shooting in those countries are not rampant ?

account for insignificant number of deaths when compared with those caused by illegal gun owners and gangs

Just look at the catastrophe other industrialised nation's like Japan, u.k, Canada,etc that has affordable healthcare for their citizens are....funny enough the u.a system obama introduced is not even close to the single payer other countries have. and less than a year after it's implementation, 90% of users are satisfied with their healthcare. This has nothing to do with left or right wing - i have family in Texas who are doing rather well because they work in the oil sector yet even they were surprised at the cost of health insurance - the insurers are also saying that in 2016 they are proposing a rate hike - some people estimate between 20 and 60 %.

Subsidies for Obama care will come at a huge cost to the middle classes as the US do not have the money to pay for it. They cannot continue to print money forever - theres only so much an economy can print before meltdown.

The problem is that there ought to be a choice - allowing any Government to control health care based on by insurance is foolhardy
