Bruv, look around you. Do you seriously think Nigerian youths are ready for leadership? Only very few are in an age when the majority are obsessed with bling, social networking, party lifestyle and 'big man thinz'. I interact with a lot of young Nigerians (18-35) and I can say most (90%) are not serious or conscious of what matters in life and how they can contribute towards making their society better. Young people do not automatically deserve anything. They must earn whatever they want in life. If I were Buhari I would ignore Nigerian youths because of what they are. Better to recruit from an era where people were patriotic and were dedicated to serving their nation than enlist irresponsible young people from an era of narcissism and shallowness.
this is an insult to nigerian all youths no matter their lifestyle. So r u saying those who graduate every year from nigerian institutions that our elders have destroyed with impunity and total lack of administration knowledge are from mars? In life there r two sets of people, the LEADERS and the FOLLOWERS. If we have only LEADERS, who will they LEAD?
Once again u r a disgrace to youths if u r one, and incase u r an elder, i stand with other youths whose mandate have been robbed by these anolog old fools and curse your youthful past age.

Nigerian youths are not ready for leadership? But their own children are gradually taking up some few available space left out by these so called leaders that brought us where we are now. The Nigerian youths I know are very ready to assume political leadership with these wicked old men playing the role of advisers and elder statesmen. Check your records, all these so called leaders started their political life early. From Buhari at the age of 23, Gowon, Ibb, Obasanjo, Audu Ogbeh, Tinubu et al. Why make use of them to achieve your deceptive aim when you know they are utterly useless when it comes to share the spoils of office. Ponder about that
You have a point, but the incontrovertible truth is that the youth's have to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. Same with the women. The youth's have to put in what I call focused participation in politics. No serious government can ignore somebody like Emagwe of GEJ SA era.Participation and focused activism is key.

What deceptive aim? When the likes of Buhari became leaders as youths things were very different. You can never ever cheat nature or prevent what will be from happening. If the Nigerian youths are ready and equipped to lead then they will. The problem is that folks like you prefer to believe the old boys are depriving them of power rather than accept that our youths are not ready to stake their claim and brush the old boys aside.

In countries where young people are uncompromisingly ready for leadership they become leaders. In the last UK elections, a 20 year old woman became the youngest MP (member of parliament) for a long time.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/32642208/meet-the-snps-mhairi-black-the-youngest-mp-elected-since-1667

If Nigerian youths are not serious, lacking focus and unwilling to take responsibility for their own future then what are you talking about? It was a young man who began the process that toppled Mubarak and contributed to the Arab spring. Instead all Nigerian youths do is complain and insinuate that they must be included automatically in political leadership. It does not work like that. Line up 100 young Nigerians today and you will see they want to be the next Phyno , Olamide or Davido rather than the next Fashola, El rufai or Okorocha. Face fact dude. Most Nigerian youths are not ready to lead. Those who are, like Dimeji Bankole, even if he did not lead well, get the chance to lead.
U're so sound and informed. Youths are not ready rather they are only ready to be used. The current old folks leading us now, worked for it and aimed for it. Young ones prefer helping the old achieve their leadership dreams.
Once more, bro u're very informed

[quote author=warrior01 post=38838032]I sorry for Nigerian youths as they have no place in this government. They were simply lied to and used. Tinubu has his entire family including his wife in government, no Lie Mohammed equally has his son already in Lagos govt and now wants to take the minister a slot for kwara state. So much for change while the youths who really worked are left with nothing..

Oga start building ur career, wen u get to the top u can now ur wealth of experience. Stop tryin to be a political jober.

Mr Gbawe, so, all the youths who work in banks and financial institutions are all dead. So the children of the political class who have 1st class degrees and currently head IT firms and telecom corporations are all singing and acting, while partying with DAVIDO. So all the brothels and clubs now turn back old men who are youth drainers of our young girls. So the son of OBJ and that ridiculous Tinubu is afraid and scared of joining the political class.
Young man, you probably spend all your time watching TRACE TV, and doing YAHOO-YAHOO, that's why you don't know there are millions of people within the age bracket of 30-40 doing amazing things and are more qualified than the bunch of bloodsuckers and retirement home candidates on that hopeless list. I have read all your contributions to this platform, and not one piece could be considered as having any iota of intelligence. Those who claim you are intelligent are simply blind and FOOLISH.
Why do you assume I am not aware of this? My main point is that Nigerian youths are not socially responsible or patriotically focused on the input they must contribute toward the realisation of a great society that works for everyone. Most young people have a capitalist "me, myself and I" ethos and this guides their individual and selfish desire to be financially successful without feeling they owe their nation or society anything. So what if some Nigerians between the age of 30-40 are doing amazing things? They are doing it for themselves !!! I am in that age bracket and only come to nairaland because I want my nation to be better.

I will formally get involved in politics shortly, and with dedication to a better Nigeria, I have no doubt I can make a difference. The point is that Nigeria youths must get involved and stake their claim. They cannot remain on the sideline complaining when they have not shown they are leadership material. Nothing is free in life. You work for it. We have to give the elders and Nigerians a reason to believe we are ready. Bankole was a very young speaker yet he rubbished the notion that Nigerian youths are competent and responsible. Nigerian youths should look at themselves first instead of thinking anyone owes them anything.

Confused and senseless APC youths were used and discarded by Buhari and his changing chanting horde after winning election.

PDP will reclaim Nigeria because it is a party that believes in the youths.

If the Nigerian youths choose not to vote then a demographic group , perhaps those aged 50-100, will still produce our elected leaders. The point remains that Nigerian youths must want to lead, believe in their own ability to lead and, most importantly, position themselves to lead.

you see, this is what I am talking about. You cannot even be bothered to write proper English because of how youths today are lazy, highly materialistic and always looking to cut corners. Why can you not take time to write properly for god sake? Who do you think, in the serious world of business and politics will take you seriously when you write as you do? I don't even get what you are saying because I don't do that dumbed-down illiteracy lingo and have no interest indulging those who do.

How do you then expect someone from an era of discipline and formal uprightness, like Buhari, to take you seriously? You Nigerian youths are your own biggest enemies. Yes we are in the social networking age. That does not mean you cannot make an effort to write properly instead of spelling because as 'cuz' or you as 'u'. You guys have no mouth to talk. Look at yourselves, your laziness and skill-set deficiencies that mean you are inferior to those before you and are unlikely to replace them anytime soon. Youths who are ready will lead. Unfortunately, most Nigerian youths are not ready. This is why you are not leading.

Yes. APC is my platform but that is because I believe it to be a Party that can deliver for Nigeria and not because I am a die-hard APC devotee. I could easily join KOWA if that gives me a chance to serve my constituency and I am comfortable with their political ideology.

Also, I did not say all Nigerian youths are useless and misguided. My opinion is that most of them are. The few who are mature, serious and responsible will always be empowered by society. I have friends, business partners and associates who are in their sixties. Despite being over 20 years older than me, they relate to me as if we are the same age. Nigerian elders do not discriminate against young people in my opinion. It is Nigerian young people who fail to grow up, fail to see and chase what matters and fail to make themselves a force to be reckoned with.

Everything is about the man in power doing the right things to move Nigeria forward. For example, i am not happy about Boko Haram at all. Things must improve soon in this regard or Buhari will start feeling the heat.

The only way to achieve this youth agenda is via revolution and it must be a bloody one like the case of mubarak. So I disagree that our youths are not ready rather this old folks have so made it hard for us to gain that strength starting by destroying our educational sector and so on
